If Romney and Flake keep attacking Trump and guys like Miller is it possible Utah could go blue?

How Utah Could Go Blue in 2020
By Owen Migdal • Utah Contributor • News October 28, 2019 at 3:00am

Snip: Even though a large amount of Mormons have conservative social views and make up approximately sixty percent of the Utahn population, there is one person that has unified this predominantly-white voting group against the Republican party: Donald Trump. Most Mormons hate Donald Trump because his misogynistic, adulterous, and narcissistic lifestyle does not reflect the values of the LDS Church. Mitt Romney, alongside other notable LDS leaders like Arizona's Jeff Flake, have condemned Trump for years now. In fact, Trump did everything he could to keep Romney from winning his Utah Senate seat in 2018.

Mitt Romney Wants Answers From Stephen Miller About Leaked Emails
“The president gets to choose who’s around him, but I don’t think that reflects as well as it might,” the senator said of Miller’s apparent ties to white nationalism.

Not going to happen in the near future. There will be a major change come January of 2021 when Hunstman is Governor. The Tea Billies will lose control to the Middle of the road Rethugs. And maybe a Dino or Two might survive to set in the State Legislature, and that will be about it.

The three main Population areas of the STate are hard core Rethugs and will not break ranks with the Church which is about as backassward conservative as it gets.

Spoke too soon. As Rocky Anderson says SLC propper is only about 182,000 people and is very progressive. You may be right about the rest of the cities around SLC.

Population is 57% Mormon State Wide. And Utah,Iron and Washington Counties are where it is at.

The old saying is,if they have a R behind their name, you can take it to the bank, they will get elected. Yes there are pockets where the Dems win out and those pockets are mostly in the Eastern and South Eastern part of the State.

I would not bet on a Dem winning there but it would not surprise me. Trump only got 45% of the vote there and he started out plus 27% in approval and is now at negative 3. That is a 30% shift. If Romney, Flake and McMillan endorse the Democratic candidate I think it could be closer than people think.

Worked a Campaign in District 4 when the State was given a new District. Hey we busted our butts and were able to pull 26%+ and this was 2012. Worked Southern Utah Dems Campaigns for twelve years and yes we were able to capture a few City Council seats but that was it. When the Sunday Meetings of Election Week hit, well, the recommendations are were it is at. Nuf said, been there and kept the Dem Party flag a flying even in defeat after defeat.

Until Temple Square changes nothing changes.

Trump is not loved in Utah, but no Democrat is going to win a plurality in 2020. The state is close to 90% white and it ain't Vermont.

I doubt a Dem will win this round but I would not be shocked if Mormon leaders like Romney, Flake and McMillan keep attacking Trump and endorse the Dem nominee.

As in just about every other state, the deciding factor is the size of the urban population vs the rest of the state.

I think the Dem positions on LGBTQ and abortion will keep them a red state, but if Trump doesn’t turn out to be one time anomaly I think they will abandon the GOP.

though it would be expecting a whole lot for them to start sending Dems to Congress or the Senate. Mitt is pretty safe in his seat.
