Secretary of Navy threatens to resign

WTH is going on with Trump? He is mentally ill or a Putin puppet, or both, I think both.
The Navy seal who Trump pardoned is under an investigation to determine if he will be tossed out of the Seals and the Navy.
Trump Tweeted that the Seal will not be removed, he will stay in the Navy.

The Secretary of the Navy stated that he does not recognize Trump's Tweets and will only act unless Trump issues him a written order.

The Secretary and other officers have threatened to resign over Trump's meddling in their affairs.

Trump is going to blow, I hope he has a relief valve.

11. That is correct and that is exactly what Putin wants and its telling the puppet to do

People who have principles must stay in their positions. I know in the military they are taught to obey the commander-in-chief, but they must make loud noise to dispute his "commands", even if the have to execute later on, but to allow the country to hear form the military, I believe that resistance, at least partial, from the military has the potential to sway public opinion about this monster, the public's respect for the military is very high, and it carries a lot of weight.

I hope they don't quit, that is what happened to Venezuela, then Chavez put yes people in those posts, he even placed Cubans in military posts, which is against the constitution, and don't put it past this monster to try something like that.

12. Yes.

The whole 'fiat by tweet' arrangement needs to end.

Trumpsky's name and mugshot do not certify that he wrote a tweet at issue. None should ever be taken as an order by anyone, ever.

8. He may be CinC (although I think he's unfit in every way)

but THIS is too much. He has NO business sticking his fat fucking face in this matter. He is not only undermining the integrity of the NAVY's judicial process, he's also damaging the morale. When good Sailors see that "conduct unbecoming" is rewarded, what incentive is there to be exemplary anymore ?

The man is an embarrassment. Daily.

Navy chief says he would follow Trump’s instructions on Navy SEAL

By Karen DeYoung and Dan Lamothe
11/23/2019, 7:11:00 p.m

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia — Navy Secretary Richard V. Spencer said Saturday that he would comply with any order by President Trump regarding the case of a Navy SEAL whose continuance in the elite unit is being reviewed by the service after a controversial murder charge.

“I work at the pleasure of the president,” Spencer said, denying reports that he has threatened to resign. “I do not interpret what the president does. I do what he says.”

But Spencer said he did not consider a presidential tweet to be an order.

His statement, made on the margins of an international security conference in this Canadian maritime city, came as Trump’s interventions this past week in three military court cases have unsettled many at the Pentagon, who voiced concerns about the president undermining the military justice system.

14. Navy Secretary Richard Spencer says that he did not threaten to resign

And in a press conference with reporters right afterward, the secretary offered his strongest denial of the stories. “I have not threatened to resign,” he said. “The president of the United States is the commander in chief,” Spencer said, but he added that he needed “a formal order” — not a tweet — to stop the Gallagher disciplinary review.

Still, there is some tension.
