Watching Ann Romney and Michelle Obama's speech videos back to back shows a staggering contrast

Michelle Obama reminds me of when as a kid, the mom at whose home that your entire circle of friends wanted to hang out.
In comparison, Ann Romney reminds me of the mom that would yell at the kids to stay off the rug and the good furniture on the rare occasions they came over.

Ann Romney is the mom who had plastic covers on the furniture.

Michelle Obama is the mom who pulled the cushions off the sofa and said, "Let's build a fort!"

Ann Romney reeks of big money and privilege. I'd like to see photos of all her homes and especially that garage elevator.

No matter how old we get, we always remember who our favorite and not so favorite friends, families were. I thank God I never had to deal with an Ann Romney.

I can't imagine, as a kid, wanting to hang at her house. Maybe we are thinking totally differently...but we liked the laid back, don't give a shit parents. She seems too driven for the real fun kids like...to be left alone to do whatever they wanted. Not trashing her..just offering another perspective on your analogy. Actually Anne might be better because she wouldn't be around. haha

...when she mentions first responders and potential victims of the hurricane she sounds very "noblesse oblige," like it's only good manners for someone of her lofty status to thank the servants (first responders) who are doing such a good job or worry about the peasants who might be in danger from the hurricane. She and Mitt, she tells us with her tone and body language, are beneficent rulers and we should be grateful (and by the way, that was about as much as I could stand to listen from her).

Michelle not only says she's honored to be our First Lady, but you can tell she really means it. She works for us and there's nothing she'd rather be doing than defending and fighting for. She isn't our "queen" she is our friend, our partisan, our sister. She's got our back. The Obama's aren't rulers, they're knights in shining armor

We wouldn't go to the front door, because that went into the living room. We went around to the side of the house and knocked on the door that opened into the kitchen. Even the kids who lived there were not to go there until after they had their bath, were ready for bed, and could watch a tv program before bed. Our house wasn't like that...

but we had a den that we could tear up. It wasn't because we had money- we totally didn't- but because my mom wanted to make sure the stuff she paid good money for didn't get destroyed.

She made peanut butter sammiches for all the kids who came over. So it was a mixed bag.

The dog my dad and found under his car while he worked security patrols, got in the house while we were gone. He pulled the drawers out of my moms sewing machine and chewed the end out of the couch. We had it reupholstered. And we kept the dog. He would climb up on a table to eat apricots out of the tree.

I stopped before the 14 minute mark of Ann's speech. "No one will work harder. No one will care more, and no one will move heaven and earth, like Mitt Romney to make this country a better place to live."

Oh, please. Just give me a farking break.

I mean, those could be inspiring words, if I didn't know about Romney's tax plan. So Romney is proposing huge tax cuts for the rich, because he cares more, and because tax cuts for the rich will make this country a better place to live.

I managed to listen to all of Michelle's. It was kinda campaign speechy. More so than what I heard of Ann's. At least in the first 14 minutes, Ann did not throw in references to entrepeneurs or standard conservative issues, the way Michelle threw in references to women's issues and GLBT.

There's also ten seconds or so that seem to have gotten clipped out at about the 22 minute mark. There are several absurdities in her speech. Like the ending about how without Barack there is no American Dream.
