now take my money.
i posted this is several of the tammy duckworth threads last night, and did get a couple hits, but i think it deserves it's own thread.
please note that i had to donate in order to publish the page, so i put in $200 in "seed money".
will match the first $500 total donated through this actblue page.
trust me when i say that efforts like this help both to buy things, and to give people on the campaign a reason to hope. both are pretty equally needed.

(31,706 posts)Contributions in the primaries and then again when deadbeat Walsh won the nomination. I also had the chance to see Tammy along with the REAL Joe Walsh at a benefit show (along with another contribution) last month and I expect to do more as we get closer to election day. The feeling on the ground here is very positive...Walsh is running a lot of angry TV spots so Tammy can use every dollar possible to keep her positive message out there.
Thanks for what you're doing Mo...
mopinko
(70,023 posts)so you folks that are out there, please get a yard sign.

(31,706 posts)From people in and around the campaign I know they're feeling very upbeat. Walsh's negatives are sky high in many polls...I know people who don't like Obama who will vote for Tammy.
Nonetheless...no one here is taking anything for granted. There's lots of work still to do....doors to knock on, phones to bank and people to get to the polls on Nov. 6th...
Cheers...

(70,023 posts)rest assured that i do not have $500 for every red congressional seat in america, much as i wish i did.
can't think of anyone else i would do this for, but who knows? maybe i will put up a challenge for the dean dozen.
but money makes the world go round. if you want change, but do not invest in it, you probably wont get it.
so, chip in. amounts large and small very welcome.

(70,023 posts)Dear du,
Tammy Duckworth has never stopped fighting for Americas heroes.
As a fellow veteran, she understands the unique sacrifice our nations veterans have made to keep America safe and free.
But right now, she needs all of us to step up. Tammy is the target of vicious attack ads bought and paid for by radical extremists who want to rollback important Democratic accomplishments that have made our country stronger and more prosperous.
We cant let that happen. America needs Tammy serving in Congress fighting for the values you and I hold dear, and thats why Im asking for your support.
Please contribute $3 to help Tammy fight back against these unfair attacks and set the record straight.
Thank you for your service and for your support.

(70,023 posts)i will send my donation tomorrow morning, and won't bug you any more.
BUT, it takes money to win. i really thought this would be a piece of cake with all the oooohhhhh's and aaahhhhh's for tammy's dnc speech.
come on, still time. $200 more.

(70,023 posts)chicago area du'ers are a bunch of party poopers, tho.
riderinthestorm
(23,272 posts)I accompanied her on the train last Saturday to make sure she had the train/bus figured out (she's only 15) but I'm game for a DU meetup any Saturday you think you can....
I have a theory why DUers may not be jumping on the Tammy bandwagon. She was Rahm Emmanuel's hand-picked candidate against Pete Roskam. Some folks who dearly love Christine Cegelis (and I'm one of them), were really pissed off at the DNC's heavy handed approach towards Christine.
Honestly, while I like Christine very, very much, Henry Hyde's seat was never going to go to anyone but a deep red Rethug. Tammy's centrism during that campaign was probably the bluest form of Dem that could have inspired some Dupage Co. folks to switch parties. She was incredibly successful despite the loss.
But the hard feelings still linger really.
Another kick!
mopinko
(70,023 posts)but that's politics.
let me look at my calendar and see if i can cook something up. but you would be welcome to come up and check out the farm any saturday, too.
