I missed the first half hour and was able to get the missed highlights by reading the first thread.

I'm not on dialup, but it feels like it sometimes. It takes several seconds for the OP to display as my slow carrier looks up youtube, etc.

professor of law, and very common sense man. My jaw dropped when I heard him saying how wrong the Dems were to do this impeachment. I hope to hear from him again to understand his rational.

(Also, I was smoking a J when the screen went to Taylor. Took me a second to figure out he wasnt back lol)

I’m betting that a further point could have been made by pointing out that everything he was about to add had no bearing on the actual impeachment hearings.

This is like Christmas for me today, i didn’t even know this was going to be televised! I absolutely love how the democrats seem to have decided to treat the republicans accordingly, and conduct the entire proceedings as if it were under the banner of the “XXXX for Idiots” guides.

Nadler referenced House Resolution 660 - which is what the Intelligence Committee used (I think there was a section in there that did reference the Judiciary Committee but it was not as detailed as the Intelligence rules.

I think it’s quite typical. When my cousin (a sports economist) had to testify regarding college athletes being paid, only the D’s asked him any questions. This was a few years ago when the R’s had the majority. They had 3 witnesses on their side (one was Ken Starr who was President of Baylor at the time.) The R’s didn’t ask my cousin one question.

who looks very sad, though I can't tie it to anything Karlan is saying, as she has looked like that for some time. The blinking is rather persistent, so maybe she has a problem with her contacts, but she sure does look sad.

mail order turkey for Thanksgiving because she was too busy preparing for this hearing. There is a woman sitting behind her who has been looking on the verge of tears through the whole hearing. I don’t know who she is, but the turkey comment seemed to almost push her over the edge.

When Sondland described that Ukraine didn’t actually have to investigate for corruption, that they only had announce such. She went on to say that this showed it wasn’t about corruption, but only the appearance of pursuing dirt on a particularly hard political opponent.

Further, she said that the Constitution is indifferent about who is the next president. It only cares about the three elections. I took this to mean the Constitution doesn’t exist to protect tRump’s re-election.

I’ll rewatch this section from ~ 11:52am ET. Is so good.

On edit: added "the appearance" as that more correctly conveys Karlan's sentiment within my rather rough paraphrasing. Thanks, Hermit-the-Prog, for catching that drop!

They have nothing on whether it’s impeachable, so I expect them to attack the integrity, honesty, and absence of prejudice of the witnesses.

They’ve been so measured and so patriotic.

I thought it was going to be dry and uninteresting, and I could not have been more pleasantly surprised. This is the most fascinating live civics lesson ever. I am so impressed at the depth of knowledge and passion present in the witnesses, Turley notwithstanding. I hope teachers are posting these hearings as assignments to their students.

With the majority counsel, because he’s not here to have an exchange. The majority knows he’s there to obfuscate and bamboozle up a ledge for rw media to try to stand on.

Hehhhh, ‘dog will hunt’ language. Bleh. Is trying to narrow the definition of bribery down to say you can’t ever accuse a president of bribery.
