I swore to God I thought this was an old article from May.
It's not. He's trying to get the same discredited people who he convinced to feed him bullshit earlier to do it again, presumably to try to save his--and Trump's--skin.

WASHINGTON Even as Democrats intensified their scrutiny this week of Rudolph W. Giulianis role in the pressure campaign against the Ukrainian government that is at the heart of the impeachment inquiry, Mr. Giuliani has been in Europe continuing his efforts to shift the focus to purported wrongdoing by President Trumps political rivals.
Mr. Giuliani, the presidents personal lawyer, met in Budapest on Tuesday with a former Ukrainian prosecutor, Yuriy Lutsenko, who has become a key figure in the impeachment inquiry. He then traveled to Kyiv on Wednesday seeking to meet with other former Ukrainian prosecutors whose claims have been embraced by Republicans, including Viktor Shokin and Kostiantyn H. Kulyk, according to people familiar with the effort.
The former prosecutors, who have faced allegations of corruption, all played some role in promoting claims about former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., a former United States ambassador to Ukraine and Ukrainians who disseminated damaging information about Mr. Trumps campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, in 2016.
Those claims some baseless and others with key disputed elements have been the foundations of the effort by Mr. Trump and Mr. Giuliani to pressure the Ukrainian government to commit itself to investigations that would benefit Mr. Trump heading into his re-election campaign. That effort in turn has led to the impeachment proceedings in the House against the president.

(32,617 posts)Supposedly - or so we've heard - Rudy is working pro bono (freebie) for Chump these days. Also he's going through another nasty divorce where income and assets are being actively hidden from the ex-wife's lawyers. So where's the travel money coming from Rudy?

Mr. pro bono must have other means.

(9,663 posts)they may or may not be in that it's hard to fathom how it can be done - even by trying. I would guess too, in all honesty, that those same "most folks" would not want to deal with what it would take to be in that position.
Many years ago, Sean Keene and Matt Molloy recorded an album of Irish traditional tunes entitled "Contentment is Wealth". It's a very good example of Irish dance tunes but the title has always stuck with me as kind of a mantra on how to live and exist in a world that we are short circuiting for greed and power.
Despite what the purveyors of the things they think we "need", Contentment IS Wealth.

(70,483 posts)I was divorced from his mom when he was young but he stayed w/me over the summers
and when went to the pool, played tennis, watched a video and had a pizza, or just a game
of catch with a baseball I was the richest man in the world.
I read someplace that the now ex-Mrs. Rudy had to buy an extra seat in 1st class so her
purse didn't have to get rumpled up on the floor or in an overhead storage compartment.
BTW my ex M.I.L. one time told that my ex S.I.L. was having a hard time getting parts
for her Mercedes in Christ Church N.Z. where she and her spouse along with some other
rich assholes had their Mercedes and what have you shipped to to they could drive around
in a little pack.

(9,663 posts)shine a light on that contrast. Some people are rich in their family/human connections and others in their connections to things. My wife and I live a simple, happy life and are blessed with two grown, squared away kids. We, and it sounds like yourself, proudly take our place in that first rich group.

(569 posts)This is what Trump does...when everyone else thinks a matter is settled, he doubles down, reopens, and lies some more.
This is why Barr, Pompeo, and Rudy are touring abroad to find anyone, literally anyone to discredit what we know to be true.

(2,807 posts)Donald Trump hasn't just has a checkered career, he hasn't just committed a few hundred immoral acts, or a few thousand questionable business decisions. Donald Trump has committed crimes his entire life.
Sex crimes, fraud crimes, tax crimes etc. Never been arrested.
It's why Jared Kushner lied 6 (at least!) separate times on the paper work to get his security clearance. He faced zero consequences, and of course in the end he got clearance.
It's why a dozen or so just recently shrugged and ignored United States Congressional subpoenas. No consequences. Never even sweated doing it neither. Not even a little bit.
You ask why Rudy is going right back to his Ukrainian bullshit. Well, why the hell wouldn't he. He's not worried about legal consequences.
In the world we are now living in he would be a fool not to.

(33,309 posts)We do not claim to have any insight into the evidence at the disposal of the FBI about the alleged collusion between the Trump team and the Russian secret service. What we have, is evidence, that the FBI is forbidden by law to investigate, because it lies outside the territory of the USA.
This series argues that the place where the FBI, Congress, and the American mass media should be looking for evidence, about the collusion between senior Trump staffers and the Russian secret service is not in America, but in far away Hungary, a member of NATO, the European Union, and a champion of Vladimir Putin in the West.
Our investigation has uncovered the smoking gun about the relationship between the Trump campaign and the Russian secret services. It shows that the connection between the Russian secret services and the Trump campaign is not a direct one. It did not run through the Russian embassy in the US or through the spies that have been expelled by Obama. It did not run through New York City or Moscow, or in conversations between campaign staff and the Russian ambassador to the US. It ran through Budapest, which is the European Headquarters of Putins FSB. Budapest was the bridge between the Trump campaign and the Russian secret service.
Dr. András Göllners essay is the first installment of a three part series in HFP.
