their goal is to make the proceedings as unpleasant as possible so people will tune out. get some jerk like Rep. Gaetz to rant for several minutes, you guarantee a large segment of the audience mutes their TV or otherwise tunes out. then some subset of that segment doesn't tune back in.

The rethugs put on the screaming circus at these hearings because they know the tRump cult will be reminded of tRump and how he does the same thing. That includes the lies, ignoring the Constitution, and wiping their feet on the law. The cult loves the grandstanding. They don't understand, and don't want to, Constitutional professors.

Part of the reason the cult voted for tRump in the first place--"he sounds like them." You have to wonder what these people's home life is like.

The Dems sounded like measured, thoughtful professionals today. Rethugs sounded like an out-of-control day care.
