(22,756 posts)Karlan was correct in apologizing although I wish she didn't have to... but... she was NOT angry or public pandering
dawg day
(7,947 posts)As if Trump every day doesn't say and do horribly insulting things.
Not to mention caging children at the border, and now endangering free lunch for many schoolchildren.
But "little" Barron's supposed hurt feelings (he's a teenager... he probably thought it was cool) are worth so much more because he's the little princeling (that Trump always forgets about, but no matter).

Decades of them losing their minds over a "war on Christmas." Outrage is the air they breath.

She said..and I quote....While the president can name his son Barron, he cant make him a baron,

(15,124 posts)The sentence mentioned Barron, but it was "about" "the president".
Why do you continue to agree with bogus RW talking points?

What part of "about the presidents son" escapes you?

(15,265 posts)Most of the testimony was about how The Framers designed the Constitution to maintain a Republic and not to have a monarcy. The joke is that some off-spring of a king or queen can be a baron. Since Trump isn't a king, he can name a son Barron, but he can't make him one.

(25,183 posts)but she shouldn't have gone there. I actually feel sorry for Barron Trump for many reasons, and this added one more.

(2,916 posts)But we all know that any small bullshit thing they get a chance to be outraged about, theyre gonna take that opportunity and be super loud about it, too. They specialize in being disingenuous. I would have made the point another way, if I were her, because clever turns of phrase are lost on the proudly stupid. 🤷🏻?♀️

(31,261 posts)I was just thinking about Trump's embarrassing waffling on the Iran demonstrators and the force used against them. He was all over the place. Remember how the right shit rocks when the Obama Administration took a few hours to figure out that Benghazi was a planned attack and not a reaction to some pinheaded asshole in Florida burning Korans? Trump has waffled for days and not one word from the right.

(6,212 posts)she was not making fun of him. I find it strange they keep Barron hidden most of the time. I would think it would be quite an experience to live and grow in the White House.

(10,266 posts)And if trump cant take the heat, hes free to get his own fatass out of the kitchen at his own leisure, I sure wont complain.
This is besides the fact that, afaic, both he, and his idjit followers elected and otherwise SHOULD be mocked in public for what they've done..and as loudly and as often as possible. I'm glad the democratic majority that we elected, is finally starting to be aware of the balls we gave them BY ELECTING THEM TO SPEAK FOR US IN THE FIRST PLACE.
Yes, the kid should be off limits. But this wasnt about the kid, and anyone with half a functioning brain knows it.
Fuck Donald. And dont be too mad at mel, shes looking out for her own best interest in all this cause I'm sure if he goes to prison or dies trying, she will get to keep her nest feathered before the justice dept gets what its owed...and I cant blame her for that. I'd want that for myself too, for putting up with him all these years. As long as its 'his' money, and not done on the taxpayers dime, I dont give a shit if shes the reason he dies broke.

(10,135 posts)While throwing a pout rage. The two rudest, nastiest people in the world all so outraged over a perceived insult to Dumpy pretending while raging that it's about their invisible child.
Hiding Barron isn't about protecting him from publicity. It's about making her look like a young available pretty thing and not a soon to be 50 year old mother of a teenager. And Dumpy can't even remember the kid half the time.

(2,770 posts)I have NO interest in giving the right the time of day about this. The childs name was mentioned. There is nothing wrong with that. Nothing derogatory was said about him. She used a clever and memorable turn of phrase to point out that we have a president, not a king. The point was well made. Let them squawk among themselves. There is no there there.

(1,375 posts)It matters that it is one of the main stories on today's news shows.
This morning, I have heard the headlines of Yesterdays impeachment hearings included four law professors with opposing opinions on if the Impeachment is appropriate, with one of them invoking the Presidents childs name to justify it.
So once again, the public isn't hearing about the crimes the President may have committed, but again about this "partisan" Impeachment that even the experts can't agree upon. And the partisan witness who would dare to bring the child into it.
In the 24 hour news cycle, it is important to bring out the crimes, and not the witnesses perceived political leanings.
