During last nights broadcast, Wiles and co-host Doc Burkhart received word that the networks Jew coup tweet had been removed for violating the platforms guidelines against posting hateful content and that the account would be limited for 12 hours. This prompted Wiles to declare that his freedom of speech was being violated and to demand that the government nationalize all social media platforms.
The censorship continues in America, Wiles said. What country are we living in? Where are we? Is this the Soviet Union? Is this communist Cuba? North Korea? Where are we? Your freedom of speech is being curtailed.
We need to nationalize the social media companies, he declared. Lets take over the social media companies. Lets nationalize them. Lets turn them into utilities. Let everybody have free speech. If we dont rise up and defend freedom, this country is moving quickly into a tyrannical state of censorship and suppression of ideas and beliefs. Im not trying to stop anybody from speaking their views, but there are a lot of people trying to shut me down.

And they would probably *STILL* ban your hateful, intolerant ass, Rick.

(10,270 posts)Therefore, it is NOT SUBJECT to free speech laws of any sort.
This is another example of a fucking idiot who clearly did not read his EULA before clicking the accept button.

(62,444 posts)While there are commercial venues such as theaters, clubs, bars, stadiums etc. where people engage in speech on private property within the limits of the whim of the owner, there are also public parks and other public venues where people may exercise their rights of free speech to the fullest extent.
There are not, that I can think of off the top of my head, any expressly public online venues comparable to the real world distinction between, say, private shopping centers and public parks.
Of course expropriating existing private assets is a stupid idea, but I wonder if a public alternative would be a viable thing.

(11,730 posts)Right wingers do not believe in free speech. They believe that their own speech should be protected while they work to intimidate and threaten others to scare them off from being able to speak.
I agree that the idea of creating a truly public, "utility" type system for open communication is an interesting thing, but I do not believe for ONE second that this idiot would respect such a thing.

(50,555 posts)...it used to be...oh, twenty or thirty years ago...that if anyone would have suggested nationalizing ANYTHING in this country (especially things that need to be nationalized, like the defense industry) guys like Rick Wiles would have called for burning the offender at the stake.

(11,730 posts)This is one of the things that liberals need to understand, and very quickly.
Right wingers will call for "nationalizing" something when it advantages them, and they will not bat an eye at the hypocrisy that they advocate for something expressly anathema to their so called values. The reason? The only value right wingers have is to obtain and expand their power.
Franco, Mussolini, and Hitler were anti-communists but each of them nationalized industries within their nations when it was needed to consolidate "State" power. They advocated market based practices, when it increased their power, and socialistic policies when it increased their power.
What each of the 3 had in common was a belief in hierarchy. A hierarchy consisting of "Us" and an oppressed class consisting of "them". The "Us" was relatively defined (Aryans, Falangists, the Glorious Roman) and the other was anyone who they decided.
These guys are cut from the same cloth. They have enemies and defeating the "enemy" is the only thing that matters. They will use the rules of liberalism to destroy liberalism. They have no ethic except to increase their power.
