This is where my mind went, this morning

One year from today I’ll either be a whole month into celebrating the impending end to our (inter)national nightmare, or a month into ‘self medicating’ while I await word from Canada or (insert name of country, here) on whether or not they will accept me as a refugee. Of course, the other possible scenarios would be: Sheltering in place to avoid his cult as they either hunt down his vanquishers, or, should Putin hand him another selection, they decide to “cleanse” the population of his “enemies”. I could also be busy turning my basement into a fallout shelter because after trump* loses, we began to live in fear that he’s going to get revenge by pushing the button and torching the world. In Sophie Stinky Toes’ opinion, I’m WAY overthinking this situation. Her suggestion is for me to get my ‘grow’ garden started, and chill. And to make sure there is catnip in that garden.

I want to be positive and to believe he will be voted out and will leave office willingly, but I have been mentally preparing for a worst case scenario.

Even if we win, it will not be a smooth or peaceful transition. The only way I can see things improving is if certain people (Trump, Mitch, et al.) die or become physically and/or mentally incapacitated and unable to run or continue to "serve". I have to admit, I am hoping for a miracle here.

I'm lucky in that I live in a strongly Democratic area of Michigan. ALL of my representatives, local, state and federal, are Democrats. But, this area is a Blue oasis. Republicans don't even both door knocking, in my neighborhood.

Areas right outside of the Flint area go from maroon to DEEP red. I'll get a better idea if this political demographic is shifting, once the campaign yard signs start showing up.

I think you’re trending a little dramatic this morning. Admittedly, I find myself doing the same at low points, but I can generally self identify.

I guess I’d urge you to be as active as you can in the next ten to eleven months. Do your part to try and make the best case scenario be the one we’re talking about a year from today.

But for your own health, of course you should get your ‘grow’ garden started. Ensure things are pesticide free.

I've always been of the mind set to hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. I'm in a VERY Blue part of Michigan but while I find some comfort, in that, it also makes the area a target for nut jobs. And the cult is full of nut jobs.

I live in AK, redrum state that it is.

A year from today, we will know which direction America is headed, for better or for worse. I’m hoping, with you, that it’s better, but I have to be honest with myself. The America of a decade from now will probably be unrecognizable to me.

And to be fair, you’re right to be prepared, as there are probably some pretty bumpy roads up ahead.

And I suggest making the garden larger and filling up the pantry 😉

My niece and her husband have moved back to Michigan and we are going in, together, to double the veg garden, next year.
