CHARLOTTE, N.C. Two-time Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas will be back under the bright lights at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday.
The 16-year-old gymnast, known as the "flying squirrel," will say the Pledge of Allegiance during tonight's proceedings, she confirmed to POLITICO.
Asked if she's nervous, Douglas said, "Not really. I'm just going to go out there, be myself and have fun."
Douglas -- who says she's an Obama fan -- was on a panel promoting the Kids' Health Goes Gold initiative in Charlotte this afternoon, along with her Olympic teammates Aly Raisman and Jordyn Wieber.

(31,961 posts)Welcome to the party, Gabby! After gymnastics get inside the rough-n-tumble political process. It's refreshing to see an athlete with sympathies to the left (I keep hearing of sportspeople supporting Republicons).
