An anecdote from the "extreme right wing" that will warm your hearts

I’ve just been reminded of something I heard on NPR earlier this week.
----
The next caller, from North Carolina, stated that he was 68 years old and “an extreme right-wing Republican.” Oh, boy. Here we go. But then, the very next thing he said was, “I absolutely despise Donald Trump.”
Well, now.
He went on to say that Trump was abusing the Republican Party for “his own fascistic ego” and decried the drama and the way that he has been disparaging and alienating people. He also stated that a President Pence would be a wonderful thing, but let’s take what we can get.
“He is not a decent President. He is an awful man. He is a horrible man. And I hope he’s impeached.”
He closed by saying that, if the Republicans don’t remove him, he will be voting Independent or Constitutional Party in the next election.

Emphasis mine

This is good. One down only how many million to go?
Look what happened with Nixon. It took time for the public to get the severity of his behaviour and then something clicked. Same this time round, hopefully.

Trump isn't the disease, he's the symptom. It's the Republican party that is the disease. This man still supports the GOP, despite that they are the ones protecting and enabling Trump.

As for comparisons to Nixon, he didn't have Fox news. Fox was created so no Republican President would ever be removed or resign like Nixon did.

I have thought that thought about every republican president since Reagan, and they KEEP PROVING ME WRONG!

So from the “be careful what you wish for department”, let’s not “settle” for a president Pence, I want the whole enchilada. I want both of them gone, and no real prospect for another republican president during the majority of the rest of my adult life please.

As an aside, with his ultra religious bullshit tendencies, Pence would be very dangerous.

passing the same policies, Pence would. Trump is working that base as well, as fulfilling Putin's wishlist. I used to think the same of course I want Pence gone, as well. They will never, ever allow a Pelosi presidency. But if the Dems can pull it off, I would be over the moon.

Pence is NOT a strong leader, he is a wimp. He will do Putin's bidding just like tRump does, only not as openly. I want them ALL gone. Pompeo, Mulvaney, Moscow Mitch, Graham, Gym Jordan, Nunes, Goetz. Let's see how the SC votes, and some of THEM need to go, too. The gop is not good for this country.

IMO, our only saving grace right now is that while, yes, this president and the GOP are corrupt as hell, Trump is stupid, lazy and incompetent. Because of that, he keeps getting caught. I think Pence is stealth and decidedly not stupid. His folksy demeanor and bible-thumping extremism make him way, way, waaaaayyyy more dangerous than Tariff Boy. He scares the bejeezus outta me.

But if it’s Sanders or Warren they’ll still vote for him. They’ll vote for Bloomberg, Biden, Klobuchar or mayor Pete. Their top list of Democrats - Hickenlooper, Delaney, Klobuchar, Bullock. I suspect they’d vote for Deval Patrick too.

National Review, for example:

Donald and Ivanka and Uday and Qusay are genuinely bad human beings and that the American public has made a grave error in entrusting its highest office to this cast of American Psycho extras. That a major political party was captured by these cretins suggests that its members are not worthy of the blessings of this republic. But here we are.

You could read those same words right here at DU and no one would bat an eye.

Trump really is just an idiot, but someone like Pence getting in power because of people like him are dangerous because they're a lot more competent. Think of it as getting rid of Hitler in WW2 only for someone who's not a moron to replace him instead.

but, 1, 2 or 3 out of every 100 will make a HUGE difference.

If 1 or 2 Trump voters out of 100 had: (a) not voted, (b) voted 3rd party, or (c) voted Clinton in 2016, she would not only have won Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, but also Florida and North Carolina.

We'll never get all of them, but we don't need them all. Just enough, either not voting or vote for a neutral candidate. Meanwhile we Dems have to REALLY get out the vote. That is all!

I've been saying it for awhile, enough of Chump's 2016 voters really hate him now. Or they're disenchanted enough that they aren't buying his lies any more. That's all we need to get Chump out of there.

They won't be on the ballot paper. Getting on the ballot as any party (or as an independent) other than Democratic or Republican is quite difficult. Your third choice is generally Libertarian. If not, then it is a write in, a spoiled ballot or no vote at all.

I wonder if this extreme right winger lives in Cary? That would explain the Constitution Party reference, as that party seems to have a bigger presence in the Northeast.

People like this guy are minimum. Judging by the right wing callers on CSPAN, Trump is the best thing since sliced bread. According to them, the Trump impeachment is a scam, hoax, witch hunt etc and Democrats are sore losers.
