Guidance re corporate philanthropy, pls

DU has a diverse group of people and I hope someone may have insight into these two corporate philanthropy-related questions.

1) I recall (decades ago) that donations from large corporations were fairly easy, so long as the request was for less than $10k. Anything above that amount involved much more red tape. In your experience, is there a similar guideline today regarding donation requests and an amount that is easier to get approved, if aligned with their philanthropic mission of course?

2) Do you know if corporations as a general rule might be more inclined to sponsor a project or actually become a member of a nonprofit which functions similar to a Chamber of Commerce - again, if they feel mission aligned -- with that membership fee supporting said project?

Thanks in advance.
