Volume 2 of the Mueller report, despite my disappointment in him, clearly outlines obstruction of justice of the type, if not much worse, for which Nixon was forced from office.
Therefore, I am genuinely curious why so many of the people I consider close allies view it as A-OK and not impeachable? It ticks me off to say the least. Please provide the rationale to me.

lmbo attacked bush and rubio for being soft on immigration while trying to look a little even handed but was always there to make excuses and rationalizations for everything trump did
since inauguration lmbaaugh pushed the 'deep state' shit suggesting obama clinton soros were working on a coup and those 1500 radio stations, led by 600 lmbaugh stations are what nearly all republican politicians have to bow to
lmbaugh in a neighbor, golf partner, and friend of trump and probably also being used buy the russians back to at least 2008. trump is known to listen to tallk radio and sam nunberg "listened to 1000's of hours of talk radio" in 2014 and trump as "getting reports from me" --- which may have been going to the russians
incredibly, city-dwelling leadership in dem paarty and most media have no clue and blame fox, so it seems incredible

I don't know about the 'close allies' part, my observation is that the people who like what Trump is doing are more than willing to forgive everything else.

(11,690 posts)You are participating in a forum of people who are Democrats and who are motivated to keep up with politics in general and in this ever increasing shit show that imperils our democracy. The rest of the the citizenry is typically not involved in or aware of the political process. "Politics" has been a dirty word in the US and people often times think that it is something separate from "every day life".
Mueller's report was legal and bureaucratic in its presentation and Mueller himself was the same, as it likely should be. However, the average person is looking for the Starr Report with all of its detail about dirty sex and salacious bullshit. You are correct however that there is clear evidence and conclusions that Obstruction occurred. People are just not interested in "boring" government stuff.
You likely noticed that during the beginning of the "Ukraine" portion of this scandal, more people started to pay attention and the number of people thinking Trump should be impeached and removed went up. Ukraine is a little easier and more salacious.
Remember that we live in a country where in 2014 about 25% of the people think that sun revolves around the earth, and there is a growing "flat earth" movement.
There has been a consistent strain of "anti-intellectualism" in the US throughout our history.

(24,353 posts)I think that some people either bought Barr's BS spin on the (still redacted) report or, in terms of some of the House Dems felt like the whole Mueller thing is "too hard for the average person to understand," which really frustrates me because that's a really shoddy excuse for not doing something that Congress is supposed to do, especially since Mueller stated that he *couldn't* legally recommend charges for, but then also agreed that he would under different circumstances. I still feel like the situation with the Ukraine that we *are* trying to impeach Trump over grew out of what Mueller investigated but couldn't

(7,367 posts)Barr is the number one reason. His view on obstruction is insane but he got away with it. Mueller himself stated that the constant obstruction prevented his team from pursuing things further. And he wasn't permitted to follow the money trail, something that wasn't known until Barr took over. Prior to that, everybody, and I mean everybody, thought that Mueller had near unlimited scope. And it didn't help matters that the GOP ran the House and senate investigations.
Dems just now allowed a republican Judiciary member trash the Mueller investigation during his five minutes, a pattern that has been in place since the spring.
There is plenty of evidence in the Mueller report.
It's a bit unfair to blame Mueller.
