Remember the following:
1) These are just a draft. My understanding is that the House Judiciary Committee will mark these up (meaning revise them) this evening and tomorrow. They wording will very likely change. This is normal process and this is exactly what happened in 1974 for the Nixon Articles. They will then be debated before the full House once passed by the HJC. All of this will be GREAT video.
2) There is a huge reason why the Articles are narrowly drawn. Remember that in both the Clinton and Nixon impeachments, the House Judiciary Committee had the benefit of (a) a special prosecutor/independent counsel; and (b) a Justice Department that wasn't totally co-opted by the President and doing everything it can to thwart Congress in acting upon the investigation findinds. (b) is most relevant for the Mueller probe.
The House is effectively waging this battle alone (totally unlike the last two impeachments), and we ALL need to support this to the hilt. Impeachment may get defeated in the Senate, but it HAS to be done. Otherwise, Congress is no longer a co-equal branch and our entire government falls.

(7,715 posts)and I forgot to add (c) a President who is totally stonewalling as to witnesses, documents etc. Nixon "only" withheld certain tapes (and even then, not all of them). Of course, many of his lieutenants were lying their respective buttocks off when they testified.
Still, there is no comparison to Nixon's "compliance" and Trump's TOTAL stonewall. When you also have (a) and (b) from the OP, the House really is doing the best it can!

(6,513 posts)but I got over it after multiple people who know explained it. I loathe Trump et al so much that it seemed like nothing less than an extreme punch in his orange face would do, but at least we can impeach him multiple times. We need to get the House and Senate lined up on our side.
At least they got in there that he could never hold another position in the government. That leaves his evil spawn to deal with in the future. Maybe the shame of impeachment will make them go away.

(25,962 posts)I heard briefly on MSNBC today that the markups start tonight in the Judiciary Committee. They are wasting no time getting to work.
