"SNIP.....

Garrett Graff: “The idea that Fox News represents a literal threat to our national security, on par with Russia’s Internet Research Agency or China’s Ministry of State Security, may seem like a dramatic overstatement of its own—and I, a paid contributor to its competitor CNN, may appear a biased voice anyway—but this week has made clear that, as we get deeper into the impeachment process and as the 2020 election approaches, Fox News is prepared to destroy America’s democratic traditions if it will help its most important and most dedicated daily viewer.”

“The threat posed to our democracy by Fox News is multifaceted: First and most simply, it’s clearly advancing and giving voice to narratives and smears backed and imagined by our foreign adversaries. Second, its overheated and bombastic rhetoric is undermining America’s foundational ideals and the sense of fair play in politics. Third, its unique combination of lies and half-truths has built a virtual reality so complete that it leaves its viewers too misinformed to fulfill their most basic responsibilities as citizens to make informed choices about the direction of the country.”

When you can only be there in people's lives 4-5 times a year, and you've gotta bounce back facts/science as much as you can for 5-6 hours 4-5x a year -there's only so much you can do against a voice that is an hour, every damn day they drive gawd knows where.

It's almost like they're robbing time. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....?

I’ve always considered the 1st amendment to be one of our greatest and most successful innovations.

But it’s a two edged sword. Fox News proves it.

fox is a decoy

fox has alternatives to choose from - it's part of the free speech spectrum whereas talk radio as a 20 -1 monopoly, is not. fox depends on talk radio to do the unchallenged repetition.

it can also be coordinated to the state and even county level and it can go a lot further with the hate and lies, going all the time.

and artificial intelligence means its ready to be destroyed - by the ad industry

the kremlin's been using talk radio for at least a decade

A TV station that broadcasts state propaganda under the rubric of news is the reason the US is beginning to breakup. Many people never hear what's happening and are totally manipulated by Fox. They are constantly told that the real news is fake and propaganda lies are true so never have the chance to judge what's really going on.

If they aren't stopped somehow, I fear that America as we know it will be destroyed forever.

Let's not throw the baby out with the bath water
The pen is my choice, and the law is my guardian. He who lives by the sword dies by the sword. Argue for a peaceful resolution.
Diplomacy, vigorous Diplomacy, all the way to violence, during violence, and after the violence.

Censorship will destroy us all.

Remember, the reasons we survived in the first place.
If not for workplace safety &, child labor laws
Ya wouldn't have a right arm & ya wouldn't be able to read.
If not for FDR's chicken in every pot, welcome to old man Potter's starvation city.
If not for the free press, free speech, & the right to peaceably assemble to redress the Govt for our grievances,,,, Well I would have died in the Eighteenth Year of King Nixon's Vietnam War.

It must be reinstated - for the right wing uses all media exclusively for propaganda (and shameless corporate dirty deeds).
