And why are the profiteers spending all of this money?
Because Medicare for All threatens their profits. It is that simple.
The Insurance industry, Big Pharma, and associated profiteers see any form of single payer as an existential threat to their profits.
And when I read about various unions, and their insurance plans, remember that none of these plans are guaranteed any longer than the life of a union contract.

I want UHC, but we have to employ the rank and file people now employed by that system in the new system.

(7,533 posts)a great number of people that work in the industry will have to find new jobs. The unavoidable Jersey barrier in our way are the ranks of superfluous workers that are in effect parasites on the system, specifically insurers and bean-counters. Not that they're evil people or anything, it's just that these jobs are wholly unnecessary and terribly expensive. That's my two cents for today.
