It infuriated the Republicans on the committee, since they now have to show up again for the vote. It serves them right, for haranguing so bitterly during the mark-up session. They wasted everyone's time, since it was obvious that the Articles of Impeachment were going to be passed in the committee. But, they had to showboat and take advantage of parliamentary rules to boast and bluster to satisfy their constituents.
So, Nadler calmly delayed the vote until this morning. Republicans delayed the progress of the committee hearing, so it just makes good sense that the chair of the committee decided to delay the vote to let everyone cool down.
It was a brilliant move on his part, which will lead the Republicans to behave childishly and vindictively again today.

(12,409 posts)A large reason for the adjournment was that they all wanted to get to the Congressional Ball at WH, an annual event that starts the Christmas season for them. Indeed, it was a double edged sword but one both sides had to swallow.
I am sure the larger audience who would want to witness will be entertained by both brilliant legislative histrionics and more childish behavior, enough to satisfy both sides.

(58,598 posts)that was their entire strategy, to delay until the vote happened in the "dead of night."
Voting this morning killed that strategy. It is all happening in broad daylight.
For the entirety of history, Trump will always have that huge * by his name. He should tattoo a huge I on his forehead.

When will the full House vote?

(18,969 posts)They'll likely wait until the last day before break. Maybe the last hour. This will force Mitch's hand in the Senate, if he wants to vote to acquit without the Constitutionally required trial he's going to have to do it in a couple hour window which will make clear it's a total sham.
While I think Mitch will be fine with that, I do not think several GOP Senators will agree.
