On that one, which is this one, a lot of people, including me, take the UK results as a warning not to choose a candidate who will be seen as being on the extreme left.

It's a valid fear. Candidates seen as extreme don't do well in normal economic times in the US. See 1964, for example. Either extreme gets rejected by a great majority of the voters.

any push back to the right will be construed as too extreme... however, there is no limit of how far to the right can go.
