Barr works for a much higher authority than Trump: Capitalism’s Invisible Army.

Bill Barr: The “Cover-Up General”

"At the center of the criticism is the chief articulator of Bush's imperial presidency," we reported in 1992, "the man who wrote the legal rationale for the Gulf War, the Panama invasion, and the officially sanctioned kidnapping of foreign nationals abroad"

by FRANK SNEPP
The Village Voice, APRIL 18, 2019

Snip...

For the next two years, as chief of the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel, Barr played a key role in shaping Richard Thornburgh’s stormy tenure as attorney general. In a job that was essentially political, he helped maintain the administration’s ideological purity by screening out judicial candidates who weren’t conservative enough. He also drafted two key documents rationalizing the U.S. invasion of Panama and the seizure of General Manuel Noriega.

Snip...

In mid 1990, as Thornburgh’s own problems with Congress deepened, Barr was tapped to run interference, and was named deputy attorney general. The appointment came just in time for him to draft another landmark tract for the administration, the legal pretext for the undeclared war against Iraq. It would have made any Nixonite proud. Explaining it later to Congress, Barr said he believed there was a “gray zone” between a declared offensive war and an emergency defensive action where “there is latitude for the president, if he believes that the vital interests of the United States are threatened by foreign military attack, there is room for him to respond.”

Barr did not make clear how the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait equaled an attack on vital American interests, but to his credit, at the moment of decision itself, he did counsel the president to soften the impact of his unilateral rush to war by seeking a declaration of congressional support. That piece of advice, much akin to Johnson’s leveraging of the Tonkin Gulf resolution, helped to keep the naysayers at bay.

Barr’s service to the administration, however, wasn’t limited simply to such flashes of political savvy. In 1991 he became active in stone-walling the Iraqgate and the BCCI investigations and further gratified conservatives by keeping up the tattoo on their favorite hot-button issues. Embracing immigration policy as his own, he helped craft an exception rule that automatically barred HIV-positive sufferers from entering the country. Civil libertarians charged illegal discrimination and even racism, since many of those excluded were black Haitians. Barr assured Congress that the policy was meant only to keep out people who might be thrown back on public welfare.

Flogging another conservative hobbyhorse, Barr fought hard as deputy AG to keep federal courts from expanding their right to review state criminal convictions on writs of habeas corpus. As a devout Catholic, he also pandered to the antiabortion crowd, even “torquing” the law in August 1991 to advance their crusade. The challenge came when a federal judge in Wichita issued an order barring anti-abortion demonstrators from blocking access to a clinic. The Justice Department intervened to try to force a lifting of the ban. Later asked about this by Congress, Barr gave an exquisitely technical rationale, asserting that though the demonstrators were “lawbreakers . . . treading on other people’s rights,” they “should be dealt with” in state court, not federal court — thus the federal judge’s order was unenforceable.

Continues...

Giuliani’s Ukraine Work Tied to Firm Whose Website Has Vanished
By Stephanie Baker and Sara Khojoyan
October 2, 2019, 5:38 AM EDT Updated on October 2, 2019, 10:37 AM EDT

The website of the consulting firm that forged business contacts for Rudy Giuliani in Ukraine and Russia for more than a decade vanished suddenly after his communications were subpoenaed.

Giuliani was dubbed “America’s Mayor” because of his New York City perch in the days after 9/11, but later he built a lucrative career in the private sector as a foreign security consultant.

The genesis of many of those foreign connections was TriGlobal Strategic Ventures. The firm was set up in the U.S. in 2003
by a group of Russians and emigres from the former Soviet Union. Using the group’s network, Giuliani amassed security contracts around the globe, which continued even after he became the U.S. president’s unpaid lawyer last year.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Giuliani’s work with TriGlobal dates to at least 2005, when the firm arranged for him to meet in New York with representatives of Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works PJSC, the Russian steel producer. TriGlobal has offices in New York, London, Moscow, Kyiv, Zurich and Vienna. No one answered any of the phone numbers listed, and most weren’t working.

No amount of voter registration will make a difference. That's because Trumpy will cheat enough to win, no matter what the margins are. He will NOT lose the election. If necessary, he will CANCEL the election. Trumpy owns the universe of lying. He can make up a million reasons for canceling the election. He will if he has to.

He'll know that the House is powerless to stop him, that impeachment hearings and votes will mean nothing. He's got this in the bag-- IF THE SENATE ACQUITS. That's all it takes. Our nation's survival comes down to ONE VOTE. A Senate majority vote to convict isn't enough. He must be removed, or the Constitution is removed. It's that simple.

62. Democracy demands compete transparency.
Mon Dec 16, 2019, 10:50 AM
Dec 2019

The light of transparency is as deadly to the Republicans as light is to vampires. They covet darkness in which they can manipulate, scheme and smoother truth in lies. Most importantly is that they are successfully providing cover for their key objective. While we are engaged in countering their endless lies and obstruction, our attention is diverted for the Elephant in the Room.

This rea threat is their determination to transform the presidency into a virulent dictatorship as practiced in Russian and China. Their Unitary Executive theory derived from a contorted interpretation of presidential powers provided in ArticleTtwo would provide uncheck power of the president to totally control every aspect of the federal government. It would relegate congress to the same position as every dictatorship. Little more than a rubber stamp committee with no authority. This is in total abnegation of the clearly defined separate divisions of power of the three branches of government and its system of checks and balance that was a key principle of the Founding Fathers of our democratic form of government.

This is far along in becoming a reality. The Republicans have used their power to flood the courts with Federal Society members who are advocates of this destruction of the congress. The Supreme Court is in control of the Republicans along with the top federal law authority of the office of the Attorney General of the United States. One of the most powerful offices of the government and key position meant to protect the rule of law in government operations.

Anyone questions their actions comes under intense attack. The free press is especially targeted since it is must be discredited and silenced. This has always been a key aspect of every authoritarian regime. Truth must be drowned and never allowed to see the light of day. Our situation basically same as that that during the rise of the Nazi fascists to power during the 1930's. Most importantly it provides a better understanding of the present presidency and the administration's admiration of every dictatorship and developing authoritarian government and their attack on every democracy that dare to challenge its policies.

We're in the stage similar to Germany before the nazis tightened their grip. trump will never give up his rule. People will disappear...die (epstein) and be imprisoned. Rights of ALL minorities will be stripped. The press will succumb and their takeover will be complete. They will abolish social security, medicare and ALL social safety nets. This will happen in 2020. Get out now. Remember MILLIONS died in Germany because "it couldn't happen here."
