A bit of lemon juice in water and a slice of lemon makes a refreshing drink.

I had a health issue. I don’t buy juices either. Most apple juice concentrate comes from China unless otherwise stated. Can we trust labels sone the Great Con took over?

Cranberry juice is very sour, so the very sweet first sip was the tip off

In competitive markets.

When I launched a high end fashion accessory, I simultaneously launched a cheaper “knock off” version under a different name.

The knock off was decent enough quality that no one else tried.

Also learned that banks are entrepreneur destroyers. In recessions banks stop lending even to successful businesses with $3 million of real estate equity & purchase orders from around the world.

It’s a rigged system!

I’m a bit bitter towards banks.

Without being sweetened, cranberry juice is intolerably bitter. Try eating a fresh, raw cranberry. Right now, fresh cranberries should be available at your local market. Try one.

The label you saw was accurate. It said "100% Juice - Cranberry." But it didn't say "100% Cranberry Juice." You can't drink that stuff.

So, the cranberries provide the flavor, and the apple juice or grape juice provides the sugars that make cranberry juice palatable.

Pay attention to the Country of Origin on all your Canned Veggies as well as all so called fruit juices.

Noticed in the last year, many labels do not have Country Source printed on them anymore. Example is Kosher Dill Pickles from China.

Asking for that and he came home with that one.

It is tricky and I have told him before about the brand that uses apple and grape juice to sweeten it. I personally don’t like apple juice so I like the other one.

You can tell by price though because real cranberry juice is pricey.

"No trans fat!!!" was printed on potato chip bags a while ago (yeah... like it magically transformed the chips into health food.)

I also noticed Wal-Mart has little "Good for You" stickers on some of their produce which, at a glance, could easily be mistaken for the "Organic" sticker.

There's a good reason some products have microscopic print on their labels, and it's not to save money on ink. Best thing to do is buy a small magnifying glass - the size we used to get in Cracker Jack boxes - and bring it along when you shop.

I wear the no-lines bifocals. I have had one pair that made me seasick - they were improperly cut, so that the transition line was different between the two eyes & my brain was trying to make sense out of very fuzzy in one eye and crustal clear in the other. I made them recut the lenses & they were perfect - as every other pair has been.

I watched the Lay chip man move the potato chip rack at the gas station.

There was a thick, black grease puddle under the rack.

I asked the Lay vendor guy “what is that?”

He said “It’s from the chips, I don’t eat them!” 🤢

It's essentially the sugar of the fruit, and sugar, of course, isn't good for you. We're trained by TV commercials to think that fruit juice is healthy and it's not. The naturally occurring sugar in fruit is called fructose (a chemically manipulated version of which is the sweetener in sodas, Gatorade, PowerAde, etc), and unlike glucose, which is used by nearly every cell in the body for energy, fructose goes straight to the liver. Since the body stores sugar as triglycerides, eventually the consumer will get a condition called hepatic steatosis, or fatty liver disease. Fortunately, it's almost always reversible if one discontinues consumption of fructose.

I tell my patients "If you have a craving for orange juice, eat an orange; if you have a craving for apple juice, eat an apple." Whole fruit has everything about fruit that makes it healthy: pulp, fiber, and so on. Stay away from just the juice.

Assuming you're buying canned sardines.

When food marketers, food bloggers, and talk shows talk about "processed food" they like to present an image of pop-tarts and american cheese. This is essentially a classist take on consumer food preferences. It's not the definition used by the people studying the impact of processed food on human health. That definition includes all those things you listed.

Your air is polluted
Your water is polluted
Your biochemistry is experimenting with GMO foods
Foods contaminated in many ways

That means your immune system is working hard enough.

Don’t add more immune stressors

Open windows after a hearty rain or snow to refresh house air.

Please don’t smear chemicals on your dry skin. Natural oils work.

And

Don’t eat processed, fast food things that contains chemicals & dyes.

No smoking, drinking, drugs

Meditate, stretch, be active.

Will they listen?

My homemade oils & vinegars “wash” make mixed greens & Quinoa salads tastier.

My course ground organic mustard & sardines is my big bad treat thing to eat.

Do you avoid all processed ingestibles?
