If the Democrats hold back on sending the articles to the Senate for witnesses

The Republicans will argue that this shows they never had a case.

The Democrats will argue that there is no good reason for these materiel witnesses not to testify, it shows that Trump has something to hide, and that this is evidence of consciousness of guilt.

With a poll showing that 71% saying that they should testify, the Democrats win the debate. The Republicans will never accede to allowing the witnesses because it would be devastating to the party and Trump. Trump takes the hit for it in his reelection.

There is also the possibility that the SDNY that is investigating Guiliani about what he is doing in Ukraine, comes out with more damning evidence, and you get an article for bribery or something else.

I was just trying to explain to a friend of mine who excitedly called me (she knows very little about politics and even less about the rules) saying her daughter had just texted her that dt is out!!!! Yea!!! She tells me I must be VERY happy... Once again, I had to explain to a friend that Impeached does not mean being removed from office! I've had to explain this recently more times than I can count! I frickin' wish our Framers had used another word for Impeached (something similar to indicted) and saved the word Impeached for when they're removed.

I really hope that they consider not sending the articles to the Senate and try to think of any kind of strategy. Does anyone know if there is any kind of a time limit regarding when they have to turn things over?

I've heard several lawyers on TV discuss it and none said there is a time limit. The only possible restriction any of them suggested is that in general Americans have a "right to a speedy trial." But they also acknowledge that if some jurors announced on TV that they weren't even going to try to be impartial they would be dismissed. IOW nobody really knows.
