(2,690 posts)the man's disability. That in itself showed him to be unfit for any governmental office. That in itself showed him to be, himself, a truly disabled human being, devoid of compassion, conscience, and character.
Of course he makes a "joke" about one of the most respected and long-lived Representatives in our history who has recently passed on, and of course he makes it in response to that Representative's widow.

(6,212 posts)Trump isn't even remotely funny he is just ignorant, crude and cruel. It takes a person of intelligence to be funny and he is not that person. He makes me cringe, not laugh.

What do they do for a living?
Where do they live?
Are they really that mean themselves or is it a trump crowd thing that brings everyone down to his gutter level?

After 15 months he finally spoke to me on impeachment eve, mumbling something about the "monkeys" in Congress being out of control.
Yep. They're utterly deplorable.

(33,320 posts)What they are is gullible. He's Conned them; they've doubled down when they know in their hearts they made a mistake.
My family are not bad people, but they couldn't articulate a rational argument for Trump or GOP Policies if you put a gun to their head. It's all about stopping us because we're evil.

(421 posts)who I went to college with, started a business with, attended family vacations together, who married a smart independent woman from rural town that was a single issue voter - abortion, who told me he wouldn't consider our alma mater for his children because the small private Midwestern liberal arts college he claims has "gotten too liberal", whose feelings about taxation have evolved into "taxes are theft", who has purchased weapons and has MRUs and a survival kit for months... I fear he's lost in Faux News drumpf propaganda channel. Sadly, I talk to him less frequently than I used to mostly because I cannot respect the person he's become. But I still reach out hoping he sees there are many others like us out there that value society, the common good, protecting our environment, liberties, and democracy for our grandchildren's grandchildren ...

Ask any comedian (who is not a republic) . . . punching down just isn't funny.

(6,477 posts)They mistake cruelty for wit. It's as simple as that. They've weaponized indecency, nd convinced themselves that it is funny. It's telling that Pelosi is able to make such an apt and clear diagnosis of the current situation: "Cruelty is not wit. Just because your deplorable followers laugh, doesn't mean you're funny."
That's deep, deep cut. People like Trump pride themselves on believing themselves funny. When you say "You're not funny. You're just cruel, and other cruel people laugh cruelly," that gets to the goddamn heart of it.
