It's telling that Pelosi is able to make such an apt and clear diagnosis of the current situation: "Cruelty is not wit. Just because your deplorable followers laugh, doesn't mean you're funny."

That's deep, deep cut. People like Trump pride themselves on believing themselves funny. When you say "You're not funny. You're just cruel, and other cruel people laugh cruelly," that gets to the goddamn heart of it.
