Mitch and Lindsey Will Have to Suck It Up until January 7 2020!

They're getting nothing until January 7. Congress goes on its holiday recess at the end of this week. The recess has already been delayed a week, so members are eager to get back to grifting in their states and districts.

So, whatever is going to happen will have to wait. There won't be any delivery of Articles of Impeachment to the Senate before January 7 at the earliest. Everyone's going home to worry and fret about it until then.

We can all relax, too. Nothing will be happening regarding impeachment for a couple of weeks, at the earliest. So, celebrate whatever holidays you celebrate and it will all start over next year.

sometime in January, after giving in to Pelosi's demand for rules to be established. There's not much else they can do. Trump's already gnawing on his thumb over this.

and maybe the more it is discussed, the deeper into the weeds we could go.

For me, maybe a second question would be whether the rules were agreed to by both sides or if a formal rules vote is taken. And I'm making the assumption that the Senate Rules Committee would have to formally present this resolution?

I watched a lot of it, but missed that part, somehow.

So, I don't know. I'm sure the Senate Rules Committee will be involved, and I suppose a floor vote will have to take place to approve the rules. Most likely, they'll copy most of the Clinton impeachment rules, since everyone in Congress is lazy and doesn't want to do more work than is absolutely necessary.

I guess we'll see what happens.

In the end, it probably won't matter, and the vote will end up being totally partisan in nature. But, there will be something to watch on TV for those with a high tolerance for boredom.

both McConnell and Shumer are members, so in a sense, it's a moot question.

As for the media, they'll just wing it like they always do.
