If Wayne Medsen wasn't involved, I would've posted the tweets here. Pretty sordid stuff.

Because nothing says sincerity like posting a basically homophobic rumor written by a guy whose previous research showed Obama to be a gay Kenyan, the Jews did 9/11, and Sandy Hook was fake.

So you’re going to go with “the homophobic anti-Semite who writes for Infowars is a reliable source to post on DU”?

Good one.

“He isn’t the only one saying it”

Well that’s simply not true. It is astounding that you randomly managed to find the exact same tweet that was posted here on DU and eventually removed.

You posted the identical thing, saying “he’s not the only one saying it”.

Okay, so other than people re-tweeting the identical thing or posting the identical thing here repeatedly on DU, who is confirming this Infowars writer’s material which you have chosen to bring to DU?

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/matt-gaetz-mug-shot/

It’s just false information. So don’t worry. False information never hurt anyone, right?

What's your thought process here? What makes you think the neo-Nazi stuff is wrong - whether or not you're the kind of person who puts credence in Madsen?

Then Gaetz complained, unconvincingly, that his heightened profile was harming his dating life, lamenting that just two nights earlier he brought another date to the Trump Hotel, only to be interrupted by well-wishers asking for photographs. "It's hard to go out in this town without reading about it," he said. It is especially hard, he might add, when you tell reporters about it.

Also at the Trump Hotel that night was Sebastian Gorka, the baritoned wild man who briefly served in the White House as a national security adviser. He said hello to Gaetz, too. Earlier that night, Gorka had dined at the White House with Trump and Fox host Jesse Watters. What he wanted to tell Gaetz was that Trump had singled out three congressmen for praise—California Republican Devin Nunes, Freedom Caucus co-founder Jim Jordan, and Gaetz. Over a White House meal that included roast heirloom cauliflower and milk-chocolate mousse, Trump had—Gorka told Gaetz—marveled at Gaetz's relentless television appearances, calling him a "machine."

If the source for the info wasn't Wayne Madsen (kook/anti-Semite), I would've posted it here.

It involved some sort of investigation in which Gaetz was involved in an accidental death of a friend by autoerotic asphyxiation?

You can see the way it works right in this thread.

If you post something true, then someone pops up with sensational stuff from a birther/homophobe/anti-Semite so that the truth ultimately sinks in a swamp of lies.

Viral disinformation relies on people with the attitude of not giving a shit whether it is true or not, as long as they agree with it.

It’s important to the people who formulate it, because they know that there are people who shut off any critical thinking and, indeed, pass along shit from Twitter.

An anti-Semitic homophobic birther who thinks Sandy Hook was a plot is getting distribution here at DU.

That’s a win. For someone.

Viral disinformation is VIRAL. It is intended to be spread by well meaning people who don’t think a whole lot.

Couldn't reply on the other thread since it closed, but thanks for the nod there.

One of the most frustrating things about DU these days is seeing just how many longtime posters have been unable to keep up with the changes in how all of this is unfolding and end up doing the work like what we saw in that thread in promoting Madsen.
