(20,783 posts)but I can't think of anything that compared to that speech. It was an earthquake. It might have sealed the election all by itself.
All the confirmation you need of its impact is the flood of whining, lies, and misplaced outrage by the right today. I have never seen anything like it.
I had almost forgotten good that man is.

(29,674 posts)Fantastic! It kept most in the audience on the edge of their seats, shaking their heads in agreement, murmuring and sometimes even yelling out their approval of what he said. And this is a conservative town!
Only a handful I've heard of disapproved and most of them weren't even at the speech. They disapproved of his speaking at the school.

(15,713 posts)He could talk the bone away from a hungry dog, and make the dog feel that he was honored to give Bill the bone.
And he uses facts. One hell of a head for facts.
Edited to add: Back in those days Democrats he ran against and Republicans would just say "What the hell just happened?" when he would give a speech.

(120 posts)I was stunned at the intelligence of taking the complex issues from the past and the present, and explaining them in a way emotionally everyone should understand. Systematically parting the Red Sea, so Democrats could drive their truck full of hope, to the other side. Really awesome.

(163 posts)Clinton and facts are the best thing to counter the GOP. Obama will use Clinton's approach to the GOP and be victorious. How anyone could vote for the flip flop man is beyond me. Let's work to get the vote out, fight voter suppression in the courts and donate time and money to ensure Obama four more years. A replay of the Bush years should motivate us to do what it takes to stop the GOP and its madness.

(10,893 posts)I actually got choked up a little bit once it was finally over. It nearly brought tears to my eyes to see him offering inspirational words of wisdom and to see the crowd so enthusiastically listening and applauding!
He really laid everything on the table and elaborated on the Obama Derangement from the Right, and how our side's policies are superior to what they have to offer. I especially liked the part where he mentioned that there have been over 42M jobs since '61 under Democratic presidents, compared to 24M under Republicans. What he did there was that he made a factual, yet concise contrast--a contrast clear enough for the average low-info voter to comprehend.

I almost felt sorry for Steve Schmidt on MSNBC last night, who was graciously praising the speech and lamenting that someone like him was what his side needed, and why can't they get someone like that also? I dunno. Maybe if they stopped hating so much and living in the 19th century, they just might be able to equal him.

I have met a few presidents in my time, including our present one, who is formidable in his own right, but NEVER one who could command the instant attention of a room, whether with six people or a stadium with a hundred thousand.

It's nearly 24 hours later, and my husband is still stunned and amazed, and can't stop talking about his speech. There is simply no modern day orator like Bill Clinton. He was smoking hot last night - and he blew the fact checkers off the field. He had his facts and statistics nailed. Gawd - I'm glad he's on our side!
