Republicans are for open borders and cheap labor: robots.

For workers, a robot (or automation in general) is worse than an illegal immigrant. Far worse. Yet the robot is the ideal worker in the Republicanist version of capitalism.

Robots don't get sick. They don't need vacations. You don't have to pay Social Security and Medicare taxes on them. But mainly, robots are cheap, cheap, cheap labor. Each robot or other automation device can replace scads of workers.

You can import or build as many robot workers as you want, and Republicanist capitalism will pat you on the back for it. Republicanists, once they have robots to do certain jobs, will even stand in the way of new industries and jobs that humans could easily adapt to but that their robots can't do. Fossil fuel extraction is a classic example.

Robots also undermine Social Security and Medicare. As everyone knows, these are essentially "pay as you go" programs. Workers of the future will be paying for the retirement of retirees of the future. But robots won't.

Trump's wall isn't stopping robots. Republicanists want to lock the second floor window to try to keep out the burglars, but they've left the front door open...and put up a "welcome burglars" sign.
