(22,250 posts)Is there a Democrat out there to run against him yet? I hope so.
My daughter and her husband want to move out of Phoenix up to the North. The places they like best are in that district. Maybe I should make her promise me to get out and work for the Democrat up there!

(7,505 posts)Doesn't do town halls, may be on drugs, his own family hates him and his office helps organize weekly screaming matches in downtown Prescott that recently resulted in one of his stormtroopers ripping and smashing a phone from a counter-protestor. Probably an Opus Dei type. Just a total piece of shit.
On the other hand, he has drawn a primary opponent. All I know is she is a rump-supporting repub but only that kind would win the nomination or an election in this heavily gerrymandered district. She can't be as bad as he is as a human being (at least I don't think so).

(22,250 posts)Any candidate taking him on will have to have time and resources to visit every town in the district. I think all of New England except Maine might fit in that district. AZ 1 covers the northeastern area It includes Flagstaff and parts of Tucson and it's held by a Democrat currently. Interesting to me that the rural and low population areas are effectively split in half, with the northwestern going Republican and the north eastern going Democratic. Flagstaff and Tucson are pretty blue which probably is what swings AZ 1 Democratic. https://www.govtrack.us/congress/members/AZ#map
The average # of people in a Congressional District is 650K so in a state with huge expanses of low population land the districts will be drawn to get the number needed. Meanwhile down in the more populated southern area, you have 4 Democratic districts. Maricopa county is getting bluer every year. There may have been an attempt to draw those districts to cut out Democratic voters but apparently it backfired. It will be interesting to see what happens after the next census, as AZ will probably pick up a seat again. (Texas looks to gain 3 more)
It doesn't look that gerrymandered to me; take a look at Texas's congressional map for some seriously weird district lines. https://www.govtrack.us/congress/members/TX#map
The last Lege drew that map to split up Democratic clusters wherever possible, and drew one new one (out of 3 new districts) to be a majority minority Democratic district.

You know what a freaking LOVE about this? When it happened, Bill's reaction was literally to cover his wife's body with as much of his own as possible and pull her away from whatever the danger was, himself. People are imperfect (Bill was, very much) but your heart will reveal.
