To hear some Trump supporters and sycophants tell it, Trump is one of the best Presidents this country has ever had since Abe Lincoln and I hear them on Facebook and Social Media making it sound like he's the second coming and I can't figure out why other than cult-like devotion to him for some reason. He's never freed an enslaved or oppressed class of people (and is actually doing quite the opposite), he's never helped win a World War, and whatever you think of how "good" the economy supposedly is, it's hard for me to pinpoint anything *he* has personally done in order to help it (and has actually done quite a lot to harm certain segments of the economy). I'm sure that most Trumpers are just ecstatic that he's nursing their grievances against minorities, LGBTQ persons, women, et. al and actively working to put us "in our place", but, objectively speaking IMHO, that makes him the exact opposite of a "good" President and, certainly, one of the truly historic ones.

(34,966 posts)That his cult defends him by saying he has made us respectable again in the eyes of the rest of the world! After that pussy ass Obama went around on his world wide apology tour!
I guess in their tainted world view, strength means bigotry, ignorance, chest thumping and insults.

(24,779 posts)Trump's yanking us out of every treaty that's not nailed down and pissing on and pissing off every single ally we've ever had while cozying up to strongmen like Kim Jong Un and Putin and Assad. He's hollowed out our State Department and driving out good people out of the Pentagon. He's made us weaker, not stronger AND less respected in the eyes of most of the rest of the world. If Putin wanted an American puppet as President to make us weaker, he could not have done better than Trump IMHO

(17,230 posts)he's a "good" president because he consistently denigrates everyone they hate and he is actively pursuing cruelty in nearly everything he does.
That's what they enjoy, they love the hate and the viciousness.

(22,935 posts)in Quora this question was asked and a self-described non-partisan (don't believe it for a minute though) man answered a similar question... not trying to advertise trump talking points but this is the type of thing they are saying... really quite delusional but many believe it...
answer: the answer is simple for me, Donald J. Trump kept Hillary Clinton out of the White House in 2016, and hopefully out of American politics and public office for good. Not only was this good for America in my opinion, Trump has saved America from being sold out to the highest bidder. If Trump is impeached and even removed from office in 2020, months before the next presidential election, he will be still be known as the non-politician that beat Hillary Clinton.

answer: Rush Limbaugh said of Obama, I hope he fails precisely because his plan was to ruin the United States. He divided us by class, race, gender, and more. He doubled our debt and downgraded our credit. He weakened our military and strengthened and empowered our enemies while dissing our allies. He brought so much regulation, tax, and fines upon the business community that corporations were leaving in droves. Unemployment numbers went down but only because so many were removed from the list. He was putting Americans out of work. The number of Americans out of work was abysmal.
Trump has improved the economy, strengthened our borders, strengthened our military, brought morale way up in law enforcement and military, lowered employment rates by putting Americans back to work, put coal and oil back on track
Unemployment is down to a 17 year low in the black community.
ISIS was NOTHING, a tiny nothing in the Middle East that almost no one had heard of until Obama became president. Trump is reversing what Obama did and fighting ISIS. And hes winning.
Hes given us a great tax plan that lowers the burden of taxes on the people, and liberals claim it only helps the rich because the poor dont get any tax break. While the poor dont pay taxes, and the lower brackets got more deductible income, libs still claim its an evil plan. You cant believe what libs say. Liberalism is based on deceit, and no matter how much good you do, theyll still claim it hurts people.
He gave us a great infrastructure plan that will save money and time....

(112,886 posts)He has divided the nation into partisan and cultural divisions. That may make him popular amongst a certain segment of our population but it does not translate into whether or not he is a good president. In my opinion, he's toxic for our country.

(22,935 posts)of course he is not a good President for the Country

(14,118 posts)sign any horrible legislation that's put in front of him while he caters to every evil whim that is
whispered in his ear. For the rest of us Americans, he's not so "good" is he? Besides having a valid
copy of The Constitution handy, it's a good idea to have a reliable dictionary, too, because language
matters after all.

(15,805 posts)for everyone who has ever felt stupid, ill-mannered or impotent. He is the blow-up doll for anyone who has ever been chastised, criticized, and humiliated. He is the gold plated idol of the inadequate buffoons and loud mouthed charlatans who have passed through life by dumb luck, lies and chicanery.
Trump personifies the vision of a comic book super hero that the rightwing masses holds dear. Trump will assume whatever role is required to maintain that image.

(9,602 posts)run the budget deficit back up to a trillion dollars, and he's made us all less safe by undoing regulations that were meant to help protect us. I 'm not even going to go into all the horrible shit he's done. But Fox News and other right wing propaganda outlets just go on lying about it, and their audience won't listen to anything except these lying sacks of shit. So they live in an alternative world from the rest of us, accepting all the lies they hear as facts.
The real question is "how did so many people become so vulnerable to believing in and actually living all these lies"? And, how do we get this turned around and then make sure it can never happen again?

(7,733 posts)there is an equal and opposite reaction on the right. His position and power allows him to do things they want and crave. He satiates their lust for hate and revenge.
They live through him. They are deeply unhappy, he is deeply unhappy.

(102,216 posts)That's why Trump and his supporters are so angry and unhappy all the time. They're fed a steady media diet of 24/7 fear and hatred, and hate begats hate. And they don't know why they're angry either, they just accept that they are. It's a never ending cycle of misery.
