Did it bother anybody ELSE that they gave Rahm a speaking slot?

After all, the guy's basically history in terms of national politics now...and it's pretty much his fault that we lost the House in '10.

What the hell was he being rewarded FOR?

Illinois is a lock no matter what the Rahmster does-and it's hard to see him getting renominated if he were to look like he was TRYING to submarine Obama out of some sort of desire for payback.

the debacle over "God and Jerusalem" troubled me though. Terrible optics.

Rahm speaking is just small potatoes. Hardly worth being outraged over. And he's hardly the reason we lost the House in '10. That's simplistic to the point of ridiculous.

If anything, he can be "accused" of being the one responsible fro the big win in 06 when he was in charge of the DCCC. And his speech was pretty good.

I felt uncomfortable about the God & Jerusalem thing as well. A(major? hopefully not) hiccup in what shapes otherwise to be an incredible convention.

The mayor of Los Angeles spoke (and is the convention head). They mayor of Philly is (at some point) supposed to speak (and is in charge of the Council of Mayors). Alot of Democratic mayors have/had speaker slots.

You stop BEING a Democrat when you go after teachers and try to weaken unions. If you're right-wing on that, you can't be progressive on anything other than trivial side issues. Real progressives and real Dems always have labor's back...because that's the only way to have the back of any working people at all.

most of the time he was mayor of Philly, he was a registered Dem.

The city is Democratic...but Rahm had nothing whatsoever to do with that.

I seriously doubt they'd have let Harold Washington speak if he was still alive and still mayor.

WHat a multitasker.

Plus he is running a SuperPAC now.

THe teachers are going on strike and it is specifically his fault. There is no money for the teachers and the CPD is down 2000 officers while the murder rate is up something like 30%.

He is a bully and a turd.

There have been a lot of good moments this week...but did every speech HAVE to be robotically "on-message"?
Would a little spontaneity and a few demands have done all that much harm?
