So she holds back the impeachment charges from the Senate. The right wingers get all on their tippy toes. She better send those charges over RIGHT FUCKING NOW, they cry and whine.
As she maintains her calm and soft silence, Pompeo, Esper, and Bolton letit be known they tried to talk Trump back in off the ledge. But no such luck. And finally the media gets a new bone to chew on.

And 70% of the public knows, or suspects it.
It will not get better for Trump.

(16,925 posts)That shot of her leaving the White House in her beautiful red coat - and somebody had photoshopped the WH up in flames - JUST SPECTACULAR!!!!!!!!!
Looking like James Bond walking away from another successful mission!
(you know I'm counting on somebody to find that shot and post it, right? )

(43,128 posts)the colors she wears, the style of coats and dresses, wasn't there a bold large pattern black and white plaid - all harken back to 1940s War Time pastels, and the sunglasses to the 1960s. It's subliminal, but it gives the message we are at war, because, we are. US sovereignty has been violated.

(50,888 posts)The Speaker likely has developed connections during her years of being in the House. And took to heart how other leaders managed their positions.

(43,128 posts)I doubt much goes on in Washington that leaders at the top in many places don't know about. The IC has America's back, patriots are all pulling in the same direction. At this point, Republicans backing Trump have to start to wonder what's going on, is Giuliani running a shadow State Department as well as a private information-gathering operation for Trump, and how long has it been going on, and what don't they know?
Speaker has every resource and very astute minds around her, they have done their homework, she is cool as can be. This is where experience pays, where career politicians rise to the challenge, everyone at the top of their game. The high levels in the Trump White House are amateurs by comparison, more suited to the corporate boardroom for a real estate company, and they have little understanding of power except Barr's scheming to seize it all.
I'm delighted Democrats have delayed this into the election year. The whole enchilada should break this winter and the toxic fallout resonate all the way to November. By my calculation, perfect timing.

(7,430 posts)I've been OCD about the Senate trial, saying repeatedly that if the Senate acquits, the Constitution dies.
I think that's true, it's as true now as it's ever been.
But... the Senate may not acquit.
Look at the stirrings within the nation. Listen to the very recent revelations about Trump and his staff members. We'll have national demonstrations. DC will be jammed with protesters. This will be the biggest episode of civil unrest since the Vietnam era. Senate GOPers will be under tremendous pressure to demand a fair trial. And when they do, they'll come to understand the evidence. By the time of the trial, the national sentiment will be at the "fever pitch" stage.
One avenue to be built is the one in which each Trump-related revelation that gets exposed over the next month or so will get the GOPers increasingly pissed that they've been tasked with backing a fraud and a criminal. I hope that this avenue gets built quickly. We'll all need it.

(6,390 posts)...gets elected once every six years...that effectively gives them to do whatever they want for four years without repercussions, given the attention span of the general populace. So they don't have to play the game too often. Whereas a Representative has to look at re-election the day the take office. So a Rep is very much more in tune with the politics...and why she easily out played Mitch.
