NBC's David Gregory cuts the line - "They were excited to see him until they weren't."

NBC's David Gregory cuts the line
By DYLAN BYERS | 9/5/12 10:29 PM EDT

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- From an informed observer, waiting in line to get in to tonight's Democratic convention while the Time Warner Center was at full capacity:

As we were waiting to get into the arena when it was on lock down along with a few hundred folks, including press and delegates, David Gregory walked to the front of the line and told the (U.S. Secret Service) that he needed to enter immediately. The officers said they recognized him but were unable to allow him through. After some conversation he was let through. This being a convention, the crowd obviously recognized him and were very vocal about the fact that he was let through - all of them incredibly irate.

In a follow-up email, the observer wrote: "They were excited to see him until they weren't."

UPDATE
(10:45 p.m.): An NBC spokesperson emails:

He was heading to the NBC anchor booth for the live network special report during NFL halftime.

Freeper says--

"Delegates and reporters locked out. The decision to book a huge football stadium just for Obama's acceptance speech has caused chaos. Networks wastes hundreds of thousands setting up eqmt there for nothing. People waited for four hours to get tickets. Now they are being told to all get together and have a 'watch the convention on TV' party at someone's house.

The Dems should have hired Mitt Romney to run this thing."

Guaranteed there wouldn't have been any crowds to turn away!

He is a legend..

In his OWN mind...

Sure miss Tim Russert!

Let any of a dozen MSNBC people do it...they could have done a better, unpompous review since they were feeling the moment, not whining after getting there late...jeez louise..
