If you're guilty and you know it, start a war

Graphic mine
Original Trump image here https://www.cartoonmovement.com/cartoon/62872i

He is so transparent in his bollocks it is almost unbelievable

It also plays terribly well to the time honoured tradition of republican presidents starting wars and costing countless lives all for increasing their chances of re-election.

That and gerrymandering and voter suppression..

It is a twofer really,
'Look over there, not at the impeachment. Look over there... there is a war on. You cannot vote me out while we are at war. It would be unpatriotic'

that "you can't impeach a President while he's fighting a war" or some variation of that theme. He thinks this will insulate him and there's nothing like a good war to solidify his base, especially when your enemies are Muslim.

is the way I have phrased over the years.

And it most certainly is a strategy. My calculations had a war starting in March. That still sounds very possible.

Of course this will put any Dem on the defensive - if they back the war they lose a lot of their base, if they don't the corporate media will find all sorts of ways to label them "unAmerican."

He lost anyway, in part due to Ross Perot. Hard to believe, but Big Dog won West Virginia, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisiana and Missouri. A Democrat hasn't won those states since '96, Clinton's second time around. Different world back then.

Both versions work sarcastically.
