Republicans are bragging about how many times God was mentioned at their convention. Who gives a crap? I certainly don't. They pay lip service to God and Jesus and take their names in vain and make wars in their names and totally ignore the teachings of Christ and little things like love thy neighbor and help the poor mean nothing to them.
God doesn't belong at a political convention, she belongs in church. You can't take God out of government when she was never there in the first place. You can't force God into public schools under the guise of creationism, cause God was never there in the first place.
If someone wants to believe in a God, I don't care, I'm not a believer, but I believe in separation of church and state. Complete, total separation. I don't look down my nose at anyone because of their religion, but we don't need to cram God into every corner of our lives, she is already well represented in all her glorious invisibility.
We're out here on our own, and no God or son of God is coming to our rescue, God won't pick sides anyway, the republicans can have their God, they don't really believe in her anyway, they just mention her to get the votes.

(3,180 posts)I think they would say that God certainly has a place in politics and can be a moral guide on issues of concern to Americans. Dismiss them out of hand at your own peril.
