Art Fleming and the hand-pulled cards, too. Were they hand-lettered as well?

In those days. I would go home for lunch from school. I would eat my Lipton Chicken Noodle Soup and my mother sat with me in the kitchen while we watched Jeopardy. We had a portable B&W TV on a rolling stand by the kitchen table that my mom would watch her soaps on while she ironed.

Love that show back then and still love it.

I will DVR a week of it and have a Jeopardy orgy over the weekend!

Looking forward to show next week.

The lettering was yellow on on a blue background to get the contrast right so they were readable on B&W TV sets.

When I was in 6th grade a friend and I went downtown one day and decided to see what tickets we could get at NBC. They said that Jeopardy was about to tape. Art Fleming was host then.

We got the tickets and went to the studio. They did an audience 'warm-up' where we just turned and introduced ourselves to the person in the row next to us...this is the 'audience chatter' that was heard during the opening credits, and was sort of the show's trademark.

We watched two tapings, and in between (while the contestants changed clothes so that it looked like it was a different day) they took questions from the audience. Someone asked what they did with those cards, and they said they just tossed them. They were then asked if we could have them as souvenirs. After the second show was taped they handed them out, and Art Fleming autographed them for us. I still have it around somewhere - haven't seen it in years, though.

My son has been in the pool three times. He is a lawyer and there are so many lawyers in the pool that they try to use other professions.
