Why not go ahead and bring the witnesses?

What written rule says that the prosecutor can not summon a witness or submit evidence in midst of a trial? None.... just have the prosecutors bring the evidence and witnesses in.. not like the JURORS can say stop the trial. Justice Roberts precides over the TRIAL... MEANING he DECIDES the issues of the case.

"The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. When sitting for that Purpose, they shall be on Oath or Affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.

ARTICLE I, SECTION 3, CLAUSE 6

My opinion.... the prosecutor could ask Roberts to call witnesses and new evidence....

Any witnesses or evidence we want to bring needs to be voted on. We don't have 51 votes for anything.

Heck, senators can't even ask questions directly. They have to submit anything they want to say or ask to leadership in writing.

It's how it works. The senate makes its own rules. So does the house.

The US Constitution does not say anything about Senators deciding how the trial goes.... says The Supreme Justice Precides and Legislative Prosecutes.

But even his rulings can be over ridden by 51 senators voting to do so.

Presiding doesn't mean deciding. The senate still decides. He isn't speaking for scotus; his opinions don't carry the force of the constitution directly.

Anyway, how the cj compotes himself is spelled out in the senate rules on impeachment. Look it up if you don't believe me.

Could also say all Democrats push a penny across the room with their nose every hour; which is just absurd as the Republicans refusing to hear the case.

I was hoping that three or four Republicans might break with McConnell but it looks like that won't happen. I doubt if even Mittens will when it comes right down to it.
