She's being interviewed on MSNBC by some moron. She has a lot to say and she looks so ordinary (albeit a natural beauty), and so "un-Hollywood." Just smart and engaged.

(67,790 posts). . . . said a perfunctory "thank you" and then said what else she was doing that weekend, which involved a conference about women entrepreneurs in high poverty areas (or something like that . . . . they kinda cut her off).

(63,645 posts)We were at the Grand Canyon. My friend and I wanted to hike into the canyon, so we said maybe we would meet her later. Se said she would be at the Mirage in Vegas. The hike in the canyon took much longer than we expected, and we didn't make it to Vegas that night.
She gave us her mailing address (Malibu) because she wanted us to send her a postcard from China. (After we drove across the country we were going on a big backpacking trip in Asia.) We sent her a postcard but never heard from her again.
We found out she was famous shortly after we met her, when she was on the cover of Parade magazine. Might have even been that same week we met her. D'oh!
Somewhere I have a photo of me, my friend, Ashely Judd, and her friend. Ashley is holding a keychain from Loretta Lynn's house.

(19,370 posts)That's a great story, thanks for sharing it. Funny how near misses happen. Back in the '80s, my buddy invited me to go to Maui with him, but I couldn't get out of work so I didn't go. He ended up meeting Christopher Walken in some bar and partied with him all night and had a blast. Damn job!

(2,785 posts)When she said she was open to running for political office. I know she lives in TN, but she is from Ky. I wonder if she does run will it be in Ky or Tn? I am partial sense I am from Ky. Would love to see her challenge McConnell in 2014. I hope she still has an address here. The coal mining companies would spend a fortune to defeat her.
