WASHINGTON (AP) — Another member of the Kennedy family moved closer to entering the political arena on Thursday, as Joseph Kennedy III announced he was forming an exploratory committee as a first step toward a run for the U.S. House.
Kennedy, 31, is the son of former U.S. Rep. Joseph P. Kennedy II and a grandson of the late Robert F. Kennedy. He said he planned to meet with residents of Massachusetts' 4th Congressional District before making a final decision on whether to seek the seat held by retiring Democratic Rep. Barney Frank. Party officials fully expect Kennedy to be a candidate.
