Rep. Matt Gaetz, a Florida Republican and staunch ally of President Trump, pushed other Republicans to vote in favor of limiting Trumps authority in the military confrontation with Iran, drawing ire from the president and other Republicans in Congress, according to aides and emails.
Reclaiming Congressional power is the Constitutional conservative position! Devin Murphy, Gaetzs legislative director, wrote to all Republican offices around 11 a.m. Thursday, underlining the text, according to the email obtained by The Washington Post.
The message, arguing for Republicans to buck the president, ended: We WILL be voting in favor of H. Con. Res. 83, and hope you will do the same!
It was a risky move that surprised the president and showed rare fissures in a Republican Party that Trump has firmly controlled. Trump fiercely complained about Gaetz after aides informed Trump that his office had sent the email backing the resolution, which was pushed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). Trumps team lobbied heavily against the nonbinding resolution.

Blindly following this president will be the downfall of several gop newbies, I think. In a perfect world it would be. I see Gym Jordan is desperately begging his people for financial help, too. Both Gym and Gaetz made complete asses of themselves at the hearings, showed how ignorant they truly are. Gym made sure he was easily shown in the crowd wearing shirtsleeves. Poor Matt. His next DUI will be blamed on tRump.

They might want to keep their wife, daughters or girlfriends far away. Apparently some cult membership rules could see them as cult property.

(63,221 posts)I would like to see more on the opinion of the military regarding Trump. I have a feeling that you are right when you say his support from them is weak. Especially among officers.

(14,961 posts)neighborhood for this area, there is a mosque and an elementary school on our street. There was a man that had a huge Trump sign and many other articles of support in his yard, over the last month all of it has disappeared. Now I don't think this die hard Trump supporter has jumped ship, but I do think something is happening.

(47,399 posts)I wonder what his true motives are. It can't possibly be that he all of a sudden decided his oath to defend and protect the constitution was more important than his blind loyalty to Donald Trump. He is not known for his integrity and principles.
