In my opinion.
His media empire's brainwashing has caused more damage planetwide than Hitler or Stalin could dream of.
Conservatism = death / near extinction.
Ask an Aussie.
Someone should be calling out his cult creating propaganda before we all burn / drown.

I also blame the Telecommunications Act for deregulating the industry leading to channels like Fox News.
Study links U.S. polarization to TV news deregulation
PULLMAN, Wash. Increasing American political polarization is linked to television news deregulation following the federal Telecommunications Act of 1996, according to a Washington State University study.
After 1996, we see changes in polarization based on how much television people are using, said researcher Jay Hmielowski, assistant professor in WSUs Edward R. Murrow College of Communication. He conducted the study with Murrow colleague Myiah Hutchens and former colleague Michael Beam, now at Kent State University.
Their work was recently published online in the International Journal of Public Opinion Research (http://ijpor.oxfordjournals.org/content/early/2015/07/02/ijpor.edv012.short).
The telecommunications act sought to open markets to competition, but the result was consolidation. This included large companies like FOX and NBC buying smaller, independent TV stations and cable news channels.
Scholars and pundits have voiced concern that the U.S. government has become increasingly inept at solving important problems. Many point to political polarization as the culprit, with evidence of increasing attitude divergence among party elites, interest groups and activists.

I'm afraid our rankings may have to change in the not-too-distant decades though. As climate change continues to reshape our environment we will have plenty of people to blame. Not the least of which will be the fossil fuel company CEOs and boards who knew, way back in the 50s, 60s & 70s where we were headed. I'm sure some talked themselves into believing the scientists were being too alarmist. That what they predicted could never happen. Others simply didn't give a shit since they'd be dead by the time it happened.

(14,570 posts)that you might have overdone it a bit.
What I will say is this: Murdoch was a white supremacist. He and others laid the groundwork for the Trump presidency, particularly after Obama was elected. The right wing, led by Fox, hammered on Obama day and night.
You all know the slurs Barack and Michelle had to endure day after day so I won't reiterate them. They are sickening. Basically we had a whole network with millions of viewers denigrating Obama so completely that if you talk to a right winger about anything good Obama did, the propaganda onslaught was so pervasive you'll get nothing but a blank stare.
Then, remember when the media covered Donald Trump's rallies from beginning to end, day after day? That wasn't just Fox.
And look at the asshole Roger Ailes. Telling female talking heads at Fox that if they wanted to play with the big boys, they needed to lay with the big boys.
This whole right wing thing is a hate-fest. They hate everything. And they have played to the sense of victimhood of poor white people.
Yes, there were some economic conditions that they spoke to that our party will need to address (trade agreements unfair to American workers, the disconnect between workforce and economic development), but everything Trump has done, and I mean EVERYTHING, is straight out of Storm Front's playbook. And Fox, Breitbart, Storm Front and AM hate-talk radio helped make this happen.
But, Danie, if there is another Holocaust - one against brown-skinned people, Muslims and Jewish people this time - it will be the Trump administration and the Trumpist party (formerly the Republican party) that perpetrates it. We already have the concentration camps in place, with their filthy cages crammed full of lost, frightened children ripped from the arms of their mothers.
Murdoch was a total asshole, but if someone is going to be as bad as Stalin or Hitler, look to Trump and Stephen Miller, who went to school with Richard Spencer by the way, and organized white supremacist events at their college.

(265 posts)What you have written has been known for a long time. Here's a sample:
From the Conceptual Guerilla's "Defeat the Right In Three Minutes"
"It's really that simple. First, you have to beat their ideology, which really isn't that difficult. At bottom, conservatives believe in a social hierarchy of "haves" and "have nots" that I call "corporate feudalism". They have taken this corrosive social vision and dressed it up with a "respectable" sounding ideology. That ideology is pure hogwash, and you can prove it."
https://www.filmsforaction.org/articles/defeat-the-right-in-three-minutes/
Then, there's Phillip Agre's "What is Conservatism And What Is Wrong With It"
Q: What is conservatism?
A: Conservatism is the domination of society by an aristocracy.
Q: What is wrong with conservatism?
A: Conservatism is incompatible with democracy, prosperity, and civilization in general. It is a destructive system of inequality and prejudice that is founded on deception and has no place in the modern world.

I blame it on our species for not grasping reality. Maybe we will still manage to solve it but it will be closer than those of us who grasp what is happening hope for.
The US election of 2020 will be critical. The American people have to vote with an overwhelming majority so strong that no vote machine or precinct manipulation can deny it. We must void the Republican falsehoods firmly. And, simultaneously deny the Putin's Russian mob their plan of weakening American democracy by putting Trump monster in office yet again.

Moreover, as far as I know, the only human life Hitler ever personally took was his own. By that standard, he has nothing on Ted Bundy or Stephen Paddock. Or does he? Is it in fact more evil to have other people kill on your behalf than at least have the courage to do the deed yourself?
