Speaker Nancy Pelosi's Formal Statement On Senate Leader McConnell's Cover-up Resolution

For the Congressional Record:

“Leader McConnell’s plan for a dark of night impeachment trial confirms what the American people have seen since Day One: the Senate GOP Leader has chosen a cover-up for the President, rather than honor his oath to the Constitution. Shamefully, this sham proposal does not even allow for admitting the House record into evidence at the trial.

“Leader McConnell’s process is deliberately designed to hide the truth from the Senate and from the American people, because he knows that the President’s wrongdoing is indefensible and demands removal. No jury would be asked to operate on McConnell’s absurdly compressed schedule, and it is obvious that no Senator who votes for it is intending to truly weigh the damning evidence of the President’s attacks on our Constitution.

“The public now knows why Leader McConnell has been hiding his resolution: the Clinton comparison was a lie. Clearly and sadly, Leader McConnell has misled the American people. For weeks, he has insisted that he will adhere to the rules used during the Clinton impeachment trial and that ‘fair is fair’ – but his proposal rejects the need for witnesses and documents during the trial itself. In contrast, for the Clinton trial, witnesses were deposed and the President provided more than 90,000 documents.

“President Trump undermined our national security, jeopardized the integrity of our elections and violated the Constitution all for his own personal, political gain. He has repeatedly said that he would do so again. Duty, honor and country are at stake. Every Senator who supports this sham process must be held accountable to the American people.”

The installation of Trump into the White House was the biggest crime in our history, this
"Ukraine stuff" is just a continuation of the Trump/Russia election rigging operation, and
Trump is the biggest crook in America's history.

Keep on hammering. Minute by minute, hour by hour. Ceaseless. And loud. And very, very public.

BTW, love the graphic. That should be everywhere. Sadly, though, most republicans would view it with pride. Their grandfathers and great-grandfathers are turning in their graves, having sacrificed for absolutely nothing.

If 63 million people could vote for a polished turd three years ago, and now only 51% supports his conviction, and incumbents generally win re-election, what would indicate that they would be willing to dump these POS Senators who follow McTurdle and the will of the corporate masters?

The message these Senators must be getting from somewhere is, "Don't worry, keep supporting the Shitgibbon--you have nothing to worry about."

and about 70% support a fair trial. If some of those voters in the 70% come away feeling like they got a sham trial from the Republicans its not going to help them any politically. If we can get at least 1-2% more of our own people out to vote in the swing states we barely lost in 2016 then we should at least take back the White House. If that happens our chances on the down ticket can only improve.

Bartender says: What you boys having?

Mitch and Don look at Vlad.

Vlad: Double Russian vodka, no ice!

To Mitch and Don: What you boys having?

Mitch and Don, in unison: Whatever you are having of course!

Later, after several rounds, Vlad says to no one in particular: What would make this night perfect, would be the total destruction of the American way of life!

Don: Sure, I owe you that much.

Mitch says nothing but gives them both the thumbs up.
Finally says: I can get the GOP on board with that.

Question: Nightmare or reality?

I used to think of the Nazis and Hitler, but that is too hacky and reflexive.

I now view him more as a latter-day Roman Empire type of treacherous dick-tator. He would
be the perfect, corrupt Caesar of America, but not necessarily the Fuhrer. They have obvious
traits in common, of course.

The behavior of the Senate, and the corruption of all the supporting cast of traitorous characters
like Paul Manafort, Mike Flynn, Rudy Giuliani, Devin Nunez, etc are all reminiscent of the
characters in a Roman drama and all of their underhanded dealings that went into seizing POWER.

I believe there is a world-class, never-imagined-before, "vast" right-wing conspiracy that has
come perilously close to being revealed by the Mueller investigation and this impeachment process.
Most of the Republicans who are in positions of seeniority and power (Caligula Trump, Mike Pence,
Gen. Flynn, Bill Barr, Devin Nunez, Moscow McConnell, Mike Pompeo, Lindsey Graham, Kevin McCarthy,
Roger Stone, John Cornyn, Tom Cotton, Chuck Grassley, John Thune, Rick Perry, Steve Scalise, Jeff
Sessions, Doug Collins....) have either benefited directly or have knowledge of what is going down.

THEY ALL KNOW WHAT IS AT STAKE IF THE DRAPE IS PULLED BACK.

Putin/Russia has been funneling money into Republican campaign coffers and doing their
dirty work of corrupting our elections via the internet and misinformation. The Republicans
who lust for total power are selfishly willing to accept these tributes, but are too stupid
to see they are being used by Russia in order to flip the whole chess board.

I would love to see the whole thing blow up in their bloated, evil, orange faces.

buys control over lawyers, guns, women and rally dupes. They are the drive behind black markets and mafia governments. For them, it's not personal, just business.

Now that most reading, thinking people know not to trust them, they'll force their dupes to believe we're the ones who are subversive, not they.

I dread where we are headed, but we've got to be ready for a multi-level fight, the only way to stop them. Waiting them out will only bring this nation more misery.

I'm not so sure that they care if they're exposed. That's how "get used to it" confident they've become.

Thank you for your thoughtful post.
