Is something about to come out about Trump-Ukraine? Is that the reason for Republicans to speed up?

It doesn't look like the Republican will use their 24 hours of defense.

I know they are worried about new information coming out, like the "Get her out of there" tape of this weekend.

A few more revelations like this would make several Republican senators consider calling witnesses.

Perhaps they know of some information which is likely to come out and Moscow Mitch wants to wrap things up before that happens.

Perhaps they are afraid Bolton may begin talking.

But we've seen a new sense of urgency of the past few days and that seems to reflect something they are very worried about.

and he wants to be acquitted "before" the SOTU address, so he can rant on and on about how he has been picked on by the mean old Democrats, and how the Senate found him not guilty.

But you can bet they would if they had an actual defense. Fact is, it is hard to invent enough bullshit to talk about it for 24 hours. That's the nature of bullshit.

Best to just deliver your bullshit and get off the floor as fast as you can hoping nobody notices.

The fact that he visited McConnell prior to public statements about wanting to testify has brought some to believe he was colluding, assuring McConnell, for instance, that if the Senate subpoena him, he'll testify but allow Executive Privilege to keep him from actually saying anything. Joe Scarborough is of this mind.

But maybe he was telling McConnell something else. Maybe he was warning him that he (Bolton) will tell all even prior to his book's release, which has made McConnell speed up the trial to Trump will be acquitted before Bolton starts talking and enough GOP senators will be persuaded to hear witnesses.

for killing it earlier but the media shitshow will move on, and Trump will be declaring victory anyway.

Here's the story at DU:

Note, the WH has had drafts of this so they likely knew it was possibly coming out. Therefore: speed up the trial, get Trump acquitted, and then say all Bolton material is "old news."

What will the President's lawyers do?

Do they use their full time (another 22 hours) or speed up the impeachment trial.

How do they deal with Bolton's revelations?

The second question: Have another few Republican senators been pried loose from their no-witnesses position?

They have respect for Bolton and some have long ties.

I suspect that they will side with Trump in the end, but not without hearing form witnesses.

And witnesses will reveal this crook for who he is and that will make a difference in November.
