That the GOP Senate would eventually get around to admitting Trump is guilty of both Article of Impeachment but that they wont remove him anyway. And that's where we are with Alexander's clear statement that it would be unfair for the Senate to remove him.

He’s a republican; they are all traitorous scum, voting more or less as a block. So why is he receiving extra scrutiny, both in the media and here on DU?

Lamar Alexander puts on a charade that he is some kind of principled Republican. These phony so called moderate Republicans deserve all the scorn coming their way. I heard on MSNBC prior to his statement, Lamar Alexander had dinner with Susan Collins. You know they had a pact that Alexander would walk the plan for Trump so that Susan Collins could vote for witnesses, only because she is in serious trouble in her re-election.

Thats why the phony moderates deserve extra scrutiny.

deciding to vote for acquittal anyway. And part of it has been to help Susan Collins so she can vote FOR allowing witnesses. That way she can look good to her constituents while actually not stopping the plan to acquit. Theater to keep the masses fooled.

He no longer is vulnerable trying to hang onto his seat. Doesn’t have to run again. He’s out of range of any meaningful attack by trump. He’s in a perfect position to “go rogue.” He could vote his conscience and vote for country over party.

But then again, it may not be possible to vote one’s conscience if you don’t even have one.

will hound and threaten Alexander or any Republican who breaks with Trump whether the person is still active or retired.
So I am guessing in his mind, one last act of craven cowardice will shut the crazies up so he can have a peaceful (if he can live with himself) retirement.

Perfect word for these greedy self-serving ReTHUGs - Craven a go choke puppy!

Listen to the lyrics

Bob Marley – Craven Choke Puppy Lyrics
Craven a-go choke puppy;
Craven a-go choke puppy now;
Craven a-go choke puppy;

Wo!
(wow - wow - wow - wow)
So you want all for yourself alone
(wow - wow - wow - wow)
And you don't think about the other man
(wow - wow - wow - wow)
Let me tell you my friend if you gonna live this life
(wow - wow - wow - wow)
It's not good for you to build strife

Craven a-go choke puppy
---
/Instrumental break/
---
(wow - wow - wow - wow)
Want all lose all
(wow - wow - wow - wow)
Then I know the wicked must fall
(wow - wow - wow - wow)
I say wanty, wanty cyaan get it
(wow - wow - wow - wow) oh no,
And getty, getty no want it
(wow - wow - wow - wow) oh, that's why I say, yeah!

Craven a-go choke puppy, yeah;
Craven a-go choke puppy now;
Craven a-go choke puppy;
Ooh, can you dig it?
(wow - wow - wow - wow) Oh, yeah!
(wow - wow - wow - wow)
(wow - wow - wow - wow)
(wow - wow - wow - wow)

The craven dog will lose his bone
(wow - wow - wow - wow)
(wow - wow - wow - wow) The craven dog -
(wow - wow - wow - wow) The craven dog will (whoo) lose his bone
(whoo)
Grafting after (whoo) something (whoo) else (whoo)
Can't take it for themselves alone
(wow - wow - wow - wow) They don't think about the other man (whoo)
The old time people say (wow - wow - wow - wow),
Wanty - wanty cyaan get it, yeah!
