Military propaganda bothers me

Just saw yet another newz segment featuring the reunion of a military person with family.

While I understand completely the emotion of being reunited with an absent family member I think it’s exploitive that these events are pretty much successful propaganda.

Few know or question why they fight, who they fight/kill and why they are absent from their families at all. Association with the military should not be unquestioned.

The exploitation of people who are reunited with a family member, worship of the military at sporting events, idiotic cliches like "Freedom isn't free!" -- all that crap makes me want to throw up.

I think reunions should be a privet moment. I am thankful we have people that choose to join the military, but these reunions shouldn’t be used as a recruiting tool.

You think people would think to themselves

"Or you know I could not leave my family at all and then I won't need to be reunited with them..........."

He loathed these displays of military aggrandizement and emotional manipulation.

This time we have cameras on our phones and social media. Most of the time it's not the news that does it.

My husband came home to none of this when the first gulf war ended. It was just me and the kids at the airport.

Our reunion was no less emotional than what you see here. A camera is what made it different.

My husband and I are both vets and to this day, we still have family and friends in the military. I'm damn proud of our association.

It's people like tRump and other repubs who have exploited it for their own benefit.
