But I agree that "entitlements" is a stinker, too! They say it in a way to insinuate that people are not, in fact, 'entitled' to that which is part and parcel of our social contract. It's like they're trying to say that some of us are less worthy to draw from the community well, which slakes the thirst of all, than others.

Of all the lies, this is the biggest.

Stocks and profits are up and big money is in hedge funds or hidden abroad. These are convenient methods to effectively wage a capital strike. The ultimate union busters. The 1% will create jobs only if enough corporate welfare is directed their way.

The premise of "Trickle down" was championed by the GOP deity named Reagan and because of that, and even in the face of clear contradictory evidence, the ill affected lower class lemmings cannot, and will not, ever let it go.

You see them labeling Obama as a socialist... hundreds, even thousands of times per day on message boards and news comment sections. Even when I bother to take the time to explain briefly what socialism means, and point out that Obama is very much a capitalist, not a socialist... they still don't get it. They just go right on saying "socialist Obozo" or whatever they can remember from Fox/Limbaugh.

Maybe in 2050 someone being born today will look back to now at all the ridiculous things our species thinks are so important. And they'll just wish we'd worked together to make the world a little more livable.
