But had 9/11 happened on his watch it is likely that he would have been blamed, rather than the country rallying around him, as was the case with Bush. And I think he would not have made it in 2004.

I think he could've been a three term President and defeated Dumbya in 2000. But four or five terms, don't think so.

He's a real and genuine person and everybody makes mistakes. It's the people who pretend that they're perfect who should scare the hell out of you. Romney and Ryan. Perfect smiles, perfect hair, perfect families (if you're rich and priviliged) Normal people should run like hell from these guys.

he had extraordinary legislative and diplomatic accomplishments. He made the country better, but will never be forgiven for it.

That one never connected and we knew instinctively that he was a miserable crook no matter what good he did. Clinton came across as one of us-- imperfect, but honest about it.

It's not so much what you do, it's who you are that begs the trust.

but Nixon wasn't impeached. Just almost. The House Judiciary ? committee passed several articles of impeachment, but the whole House never voted on them. Nixon bailed first.

What's interesting is this closet Clinton worshipping you hear/read/see all the time from the wingnut side. Just more evidence of their destructiveness; if he's so talented, why did they spend eight years hunting him down?

they hunted him down BECAUSE he was so talented. Clinton was on another level, politically, so he was the white whale. Take him down and you take down the entire opposition party.

Same reason they're denying Obama left and right and refuse to negotiate with him. Even if Republicans got part of what they wanted in deals with Obama, the president still claims all the credit, and they aren't going to give him a list of accomplishments like they gave Clinton.

Even when Clinton wanted to go after OBL, the GOPers stopped him from doing that - calling it "Wag the Dog".
They used the same tactic then that they use today - they said he was changing the subject so people wouldn't talk about his failures.

Republicans are just BAD for this country in every way possible.

Democrats these days.

I do believe Clinton would have gotten a third term if he were able to run. I would have voted for him so would have everyone I knew. Too bad Al Gore didn't use him in his campaign. He might have been able to get enough votes to win, in spite of the voter suppression, hanging chads and other nonsense that enabled the SCOTUS to appoint a potted shrub as our President.
