A friend just got home today from spending 2 months in Thailand. Flew back to Seattle from Korea and they just let him right through customs! He said none of the custom people were wearing masks or gloves either!! Unreal!! And this is while he got off the plane wearing a mask!!

(3,473 posts)using any precautions. Now that you mention it, TSA checkpoints at international airports is a great way to spread the virus all over the place.

(35,742 posts)on Sunday - i.e. well into crisis time there. I don't know if they checked her at the airport - BUT - she is self-quarantined on her own initiative because she got a text from her daughter (living in France - who met with them in Italy) who is now ill with fever, chills, etc. She reached out to the board of health (my spouse is on the board), they scrambled to find guidance - because they had been given none by the state or the CDC.
A half day later, they recommended she self-quarantine for 14 days from their last contact with their daughter (not their last day in Italy).
When she emerges6 days from now (8 days from being in Italy), as a member of the legal community who teaches students who go through her courtroom (and courthouse) daily, I will likely be one handshake away from exposure.

(19,023 posts)No questions asked by border guards crossing either way- I remember during SARS/Ebola/Zika outbreaks we were asked were we had been and if wed had any symptoms.
I cant imagine this will go on like this much longer...at least on the Canadian side of things.

(63,221 posts)I don't expect them to start shutting down entire cities at this point, but it's like they aren't even TRYING! There is no coordinated system in place for taking ordinary precautions. You would almost think they want people to get sick and die.
