March 5, 2020 at 8:40 am EST By Taegan Goddard
ARIZONA: Mark Kelly (D) leads Sen. Martha McSally (R), 47% to 42%
COLORADO: John Hickenlooper (D) leads Sen. Cory Gardner (R), 51% to 38%.
MAINE: Sara Gideon (D) leads Sen. Susan Collins (R), 47% to 43%
NORTH CAROLINA: Cal Cunningham (D) leads Sen. Thom Tillis (R), 46% to 41%.
Key takeaway: The Maine result is most interesting. When PPP first polled the Gideon-Collins match up for a private client last spring, Collins led by 18 points at 51% to 33%. The reason for the 22 point shift since then is that in the wake of opposing impeachment, Collins has lost most of the crossover Democratic support shes relied on for her success over the years.

(3,784 posts)Even if you figure in losing Alabama, that still gives us at least a tie. Let's get that blue wave out in November and take back the whole shootin' match.

(5,058 posts)Doug Jones most likely will lose in Alabama. Assuming, a Biden win, we would control the
Senate. But that did not go well the last time it happened. We need another seat, maybe Iowa or Georgia.

(2,227 posts)I would hope she would think the first priority would be to keep ALL currently held senate seats, and add as many more as possible. Help toss Moscow Mitch into the dustbin of history to await federal charges of treason.
Maybe she should challenge Schumer for leader of Senate. I'm pretty tired of milquetoast Chuck. We need someone in that position with real passion. Elizabeth has it. Schumer doesn't. I will give him credit for his recent admonishment of Chief SC lackey, John Roberts.
What do you want to bet that he caves, and apologizes?
edit to add, oops! too late, he is already saying he used the "wrong words".

(13,781 posts).... a special election within 145-160 days. We could probably wait that long for big legislation.

(3,245 posts)there could be, especially if Vice President Biden wins the nomination.
Of the ones listed in the OP, 3 have already held their primaries,
Although Colorado went for Bernie, the margin was not a significant as many believed,
The Vice President won Maine when most believed he would not, and possibly not even qualify for delegates.
North Carolina went resoundingly for the Vice President. That coattail could grow even more substantially as the year goes on and a cleared picture develops as to whom our nominee will be.
