You know, conservative heads will be exploding today after the shocking Romney admission that he will keep parts of Obamacare. But...um, I thought he was repealing the whole thing day one.

Mitt Romney said Sunday that he likes parts of Obamacare and will keep key provisions involving pre-existing conditions and young people.
Im not getting rid of all of health care reform. Of course there are a number of things that I like in health care reform that Im going to put in place, he said on NBCs Meet The Press. One is to make sure that those with pre-existing conditions can get coverage. Two is to assure that the marketplace allows for individuals to have policies that cover their family up to whatever age they might like.
The remarks have huge implications and signal a marked shift from Romneys strong, unequivocal support for full repeal of the Affordable Care Act, which he has consistently held since the Republican primaries."
I bet he has some new polling that shows what we aleady knew: the individual components of Obamacare are wildly popular!!

(24,406 posts)so that they think that maybe Mitt/Ryan are more "moderate" and might entice some swing voters to vote for them. If so, I doubt that the teabaggers have been clued in on the ruse........probably

(659 posts)Why the Mittster ignores that, I'll never know. I just do not understand that fuck and he flip flops every which way on any topic. It just beats the hell out of me why the conservatives are going to vote for that fuck.

(1,186 posts)That's Inauguration Day.
How would he restore the parts he likes (without Congressional approval) on the first day, when Congress would likely not be in session?
Mittens does not think things through when he spouts off.

(14,459 posts)If on the off chance he did "win" read: diebold) the Presidency, I sincerely doubt they would repeal the mandate. That would tick off his money base, and we know how that goes. They could try repealing most of the parts that actually help people, but that wouldn't float with his base, so they'd just leave it all in place and say "We never said we'd do that!"
But ya, we'll see how this trial balloon floats...

...isn't simply a mandate. Mitt would likely leave the individual mandate, repeal the employer mandate, Medicaid and everything else progressive in the bill.
