How is the Coronavirus hitting your home, workplace, office or school?

My law office is a staff of 4 people. Two of the four are over 70 (I am one of the two) and a third person is nearly 70. The fourth person is is in her early 40s and has two young children. We are in LA County and the schools are closed starting next Monday and she is at home with her grade school youngsters getting the the home schooling program in place.

This is scary as hell. We have legal deadlines that are just sitting there and not being worked on. I am wondering if the Superior Courts in California are going to close. The only good thing? The 405 is the emptiest I have seen it at commuter rush hours in years!!!!

What a mess...oh, btw: FUCK TRUMP.

I'm retired and pretty much 'self-isolating' except for an occasional early morning run to a local grocer for perishables. I'm just over the edge for being considered in an 'at risk' group (over 60) but I'm someone who has never had a serious illness - not even the flu - am in really good health and have a very robust immune system that I care for with daily doses of raw garlic, turmeric and sambucus. Still, I'm not going to take any chances. For all I know, I could end up being an asymptomatic carrier so it's really not worth the risk to others.

for the rest of the month. Wife works for the district. I work in a grocery store so you can pretty much guess how my life is going.

I have been jockying for more pay and valued as an employee seeing that I am hitting 60 and throw away. But I really need this job for the next decade. It is a place and a job I can do old and I will need a job to eat.

I deal with the public and have no desire to put my body out there. Also, I am in Oregon so between the two states that Trump is going after, though the governors are the leaders in addressing this crisis. I had a customer call last night wanting to move their reservations up a week because they wanted to get out of Washington state and get into California. Trump said he was thinking about closing the boarders. Once i realized his intent I became really unprofessional scorning Trump his dislike of these two blue progressive states.

I called my boss and asked her to consider taking me off the payroll for a month. I could afford it, the owner was being hit hard and we can all do our part. They want all of us to stay, and guarantee hours for us to stay. So they were stuck with a bloated payroll with what is happening with business.

I was able to convey all this to my boss, giving her further insight to my abilities as an employee and more.

It works all the way around. Guaranteeing me a job and my continued employment while helping the owner. All in good spirits and I can visit my father in another state that I have not seen for 3 years. While keeping my old body safer.

So many people are not doing well. Those who are too ill to work and have not paid sick leave. Hopefully, there is something that will help everyone. I am basically self-employed and that means no sick leave.

But it's all quiet here. Everyone with respiratory symptoms is either going to the emergency rooms, urgent care, or staying home.

Husband has been working at home for the past two weeks I think. My kids (teen and tween) will be going nuts by the end of this.

The weather is nice, though. I figure we can put some time into making the back yard look nice since winter is over.

We're all good. Now the whole company is asking us how it is done. My wife is still reporting to work at a major university. I worry more about her, but I think she'll be home next week. Kids are fine.

I worry the most about my 70+ year old neighbor. She's currently undergoing radiation treatments and is quite susceptible at the moment.

to come in as their jobs are physical - plant workers, R&D, engineering, etc. I am actually quite relieved about it. I wasn't that paranoid, but just glad to not have to worry about it for a few weeks. It will also save some money.
